They look to be fairly decent. Looking at the deluxe and wondered if someone has one? Any pros/cons? Just looking for shaft/tip work at this time.

I'm looking at a Hightower as well. To get started doing repairs again, I can spend $1200 vs $2500.

Todd at Midamerican is a great person to deal with and always helpful. For shaft and tip work his lathes will do the job nicely.

I am using one of Todd's lathe to build cues with. Nice guy and great lathe.

I have nothing but good things to say about my dealings with both of them. I'm sure you will be happy either way you decide to go.

I am using one of Todds professional lathes. I spring loaded the cross slide and built taper bars and I am building cues with it. Great guy to deal with. Not to take anything from Chris, I have bought several things from him too. They are both great guys to deal with. But the professional is a solid lathe.

I have two of Todd's professional lathes, and just placed a order for a work station for cleaning and wraps so other equipment doesn't get tide up. I never had any problems. Todd is also great to deal with.
Thanks Frank

I also have one of Todd's professional lathes. Todd is a super guy to work with. Like deadbeat said, a few additions like a spring loaded carriage and some taper bars and you'll be able to build cues on it.

not much diffrence in the pro and mid size with the pro you get the pass thru chuck works better than collets for joint work u cant go wrong with either good luck doug:thumbup:

Well, based on customer satisfaction replies and the fact that Todd contacted me out of the blue and thoroughly answered my questions...looks like the choice is clear!

With Todds you can upgrade to CNC tapering for butts and shafts. All the guys making lathes in here are great to deal with.

Both Todd and Chris have helped me out tremendously. You really cant go wrong with either one. When it comes to taig based lathes, these are the absolute best guys to deal with, hands down.

Trigger pulled...I purchased a Midamerican Pool lathe! Tank's Cue Repair will be operating out of north central WV within three weeks! :joyful:
