Its a bad idea. Paypal is a service. If the buyer opts to use it there is a fee for said service.

If they are worried about the fees the seller should work that fee into the price of the item.

The problem with gifting money is that there is absolutely no legal recourse and the person can just walk away with your money.

I know a lot of people on here like to use the gift money thing but its cheating a good company out of money.

Here's how I look at it...

If you're paying for goods or service, then pay for goods and services.

If you're paying to a friend or family to pass them money, then gift if appropriate.

If you're paying off an action bet, check the Action forum for discussion. Normally winner pays juice, which means service/goods.

yea but it is the seller that gets screwed with the fees not the buyer

The seller doesn't get "Screwed" with the fees, he simply has to pay the fees for the service he is using. He is paying for the convenience of having instant money I to his account. He he doesn't want to pay the fees for this convenience than he should just accept a Check from the seller, wait for it to come in the mail, go to his back and deposit it, wait for it to clear, then send the buyer the goods.

Ok I understand people dont gift money alot of times either... A) because they have no protection if they do... or B) they feel as if it is being dishonest. I got it... the having no legal protection answered my question... Thanks, Brian

and if paypal finds out you are stealing their service they will suspend your account or eliminate italltogether.
