I miss pool halls having a glass display case with rows of VHS tapes and books. An accustats redbox would be great. Same deal... dollar a day to rent, after 25 days they stop charging and it's yours to keep.
Keep a little TV/DVD player on the bar if someone wants to pass time at the pool hall waiting for someone to shoot. For a dollar they can kill a lot more time with their accustats rental than they would with the megatouch machine.

In fact, almost all the ideas in this thread are selfish...only 'good ideas' from the renter's perspective.
How many tapes would be in the machine? how many machines in the nation? what kid of initial investment ya think it would require?
think bigger, please. full accustats library available online.. ppv or memberships. personal or business accounts.
The rent amounts would be so little, it won't be worth it keeping it plugged in to use the electricity.
Room owners don't want their customers to go home and watch pool. They want their customers to stay there and play pool.

Great Idea , but i would swap red box, with a cheap android tablet with wireless connection to either Accu-Stats web or local server, people can watch while at table, comes free with a lunch or dinner, or table time..
When Comet Billiards was open Mike Sigel did a 3 hour clinic. It was only about $100 per person. We did it in the accu stats arena. Pat filmed the whole thing and gave everyone a dvd. It was nice of him, and the clinic was fun and interesting.
I have filmed some people I know who have played in pro tournaments. They like seeming themselves compete.
I think your idea is a good one. Rent an accu stats match for $5 for a week. I think you have started something that will make everyone happy.

What happens when people are late after so many days? The DVD gets charged to their credit card. If people are offered it they will rent/buy it. Also how much do you think the electricity would be. It's easily break even deal with ancillary benefits and if not you pull the machine. Plus it's taking up dead space anyway.
At some point the customer is going to have to go home, no? So why not grab a DVD watch that instead of sportscenter, learn something and come back to the pool room with something to practice or think about from the DVD. The more proficient and knowledgeable players are the more they want to play. Therefore room owners should be encouraging players to learn more about the game and what better way than accu- stats.
Thinking about it, to keep people in the room and hopefully help the owner out... You could have a box/monitor (similar to the megatouch, or maybe even a repurposed megatouch), and a huge selection of matches are just stored in there in a hard drive. Using a touch screen to navigate, you feed it X dollars into the slot and then pick your video. Not unlike a touchtunes jukebox. When not watching, it shows replays to attract people, maybe ads for products they sell and local specials. Throw instructional material on there too.
