I have already stated what I think the old man ,as you put it, should've been ranked and I told Megan that also. When we played last, he was a ball or 2 under me and I would be a 6 in this tournament. You stated Guy was a 5 and Mikey was a 6, Guy and I are even in 9 ball and Mikey is a ball or 2 better than me so you guys got a great spot and you know this! I'm sure Megan will do away with the replay rule that she adopted from the Grady Mathews tournament, which half of these players were from. If she holds another tournament, I'm sure she will make adjustments and have better knowledge of these players rankings, it was the first one here and other than this one incident , maybe two, it went very smooth.

The thing that got me was how you started this thread from 3rd party information from your buddies and put that out here for all to read and you weren't even there. Guy has a AZ account, why didn't he post this?For one, Megan and Gatlin are not nor have ever dated. The score wasn't hill-hill or 7-5, it was 7-3 and if he stated that he played BCA 2 years ago as a 8 then she could've started him as a 4 or 5 to avoid this whole situation. The old mans 2nd match was agaisnt another player that was moved up do to her ability of play campared to her starting handicap and the old man beat her straight up 7-4. I'm not saying that the replay rule was right , I'm just posting the correct info on the scores and why he was moved. Megan in no way had this tournament to get over on your father in law or any other player. She did this for the players and to help the poolhall. I know you didn't attack Brent personally but you did post and link his business to this.

This could've been kept private and settled in person instead of posting alot of false info from a 3rd party on this forum. I do think Goochy should've played as a 4 maybe 5 (didn't see him play), as far as the replay rule, I don't really care because I tell TD's my real handicap and league info up front. I went to Gradys Big Tourny 2 months ago and told them to raise me one skill level higher just incase and I went 2 and out (I played bad) but, I was playing it safe because I was new to them. One of the guys with us was moved up and had to replay the match which he lost.

Sorry this happened to Goochy (old man). He is a great person and awesome player. I'll always respect that guy and his game. Ron

Gooch was not way over ranked you said so yourself. So if he's only a skill level off(depending on the night) that justifies bringing a player back that's out

now over 6 pages of a bunch of he said/she said when everyone here (that's played more than 5 games of pool) knows that rarely if EVER does a serious pool player not try to exploit whatever perceived advantage they may have. Whether it's the game, the table, the spot, DOESN'T MATTER! it's just the way most are wired.

as the TD it sounds like she picked what she thought was the best choice in a NO WIN situation. I'm sure she's learned from this as I hope the "old man" did too. I've played in and ran enough tournament to be sure that at NO POINT WILL EVERYONE BE HAPPY with the rules, the races, the spots, the music, the food, the payout, the temperature, Ad nauseam

If you don't like it guess what?

When ppl are rated too low I agree with raising them during the tourney, but not by two. Sadly players that lose tend to blame something other than their own mistakes.

It doesn't take many mistakes to lose a few racks on a BB.

I have to disagree perhaps they should be able to up a handicap mid tournament (even that I disagree with), but there is no way they should make a substantial handicap change and then have a match replayed. Seems that the TD was biased. I do not think you will find many actual players who would agree with the way this handled. There might be some league players who are OK with being herded around like this thinking whatever they are told is right, but anyone who is thinking on their on feet will say this was an outright manipulation of the event.

Sounds like the TD was up to shenanigans.

After reading all the responces, and Megans reply. I have a question which would have made a difference if I was going to move a player up or not. The question is How Did He Win that match 7-3......Did he run out with 2 balls on the table, a few lucky caroms on the money ball, or did he run out those racks with 5 or 6 balls on the table.....If you think about it, if he had a few ball in hands after a foul and a combo on the money ball wouldnt reflect in the score of the match.....How he won those games is far more important than the score of the match
 
I never said Megan was right or wrong in her decision to move him up 2 rankings or doing the replay. I have my own thoughts on that but it doesn't matter because it was clearly stated in the players meeting which i'm sure no one listened to. We were well aware of that rule at Gradys and we had the option of pulling out of the tournament if we didn't agree on the TD's rules.

The boyfriend part was wrong, the hill-hill score was incorrect and holding back his prior BCA handicap would've helped. I definitly do not like you bashing Megan and making it to look like she intentionally screwed your father in law. I really don't feel like this even belongs on here period. Oh well, we'll see what the other story is now.

Thank you to those who complemented the poolhall and understands that the TD can not please every player. She made 65 players out of 70 happy which is a great precentage.

If Guy or Mikey or Mike would've gotten on here even under your screen name and posted this it would've been a different story and still doesn't belong on this forum. If every player on AZ thought they were wronged on a tournament and started a thread, it would be flooded.

I'm done with this and have to work. This whole thing sucks :frown: Ron

To tell you the Gods honest truth, Petey nor myself know that answer because he wasn't there and I didn't see his match and I guarantee his friends didn't either. They most likely just knew the aftermath. The place was slammed and everyone was playing. I'm just speculating that though. Ron

Mikee posted on Facebook (Mike Slaughter) and I've never come on here and said I was wronged at anything. If it happened to me nothing would have been said. Megan did show favoritism if me saying that oisses you off so be it

Him playing in the BCA is not a big deal especially if it happened years ago. From the sounds of it, I doubt the old man was trying to pull a move considering it sounds like he has rarely been close to the money in any of these events.

Regardless, the biggest wrong was having the match replayed. You can't go retroactively doing this as if it goes for one person, it should for everyone else who played & lost. If by some chance he was pulling a move, just live & learn but in no way can you replay a match.

OMG! I stated from the beginning that I didn't watch his match but, I was there. You were 30 miles away the whole weekend. Your info was 2nd party not mine. I just heard , in person, in the building Saturday night that Gatlin had his butt kicked by that old man, I thought it was the guy who won the whole event that was 78 years old. I could careless if goochy beat him and would've been proud of him. I like Goochy. I think you should've stayed out of this as I should've for not even seeing the matches. The free food and drink statement said, you tried to get a hook up and you know I always hooked you up with more so you could share with your friends and hooked you up with free refills. You did pay for your food because I didn't wanna get fired when i worked there.

Let's stop dragging this BS thread around, you wanna keep talking about it, we can talk about it in person. This is getting old. You, Gooch, Megan, Brent and I can air it all out in person, not on the internet. I don't know what you and I would even say since we both didn't witness his matches. Ron

I'm sure she will throw that replay rule out. She is not favoring anyone in the tournament and doesn't even know Goochy(old man).
 
I'm so sorry AZer's for this loooong thread. I'm reading my posts and it's like a broken record over and over again. Petey, you have my number. Wanna set something up with Goochy, Megan and Brent and try and work this out, let me know. We want you at STB and we need you at STB. You were pissed and posted away about what you heard and Brent was pissed at this thread and texted you how he felt. Hopefully this can be resolved in person now that everyone has cooled down.

If not, I don't know what else to do. I just wanted to correct a few things you posted and I'm done. Sorry about the wording of my free food statement. Ron

I'm done with this. I think Brent and the whole Shorething bunch over reacted. Brent calls Guy and tells me I'm barred and he is going to sue me if I didn't take it down( which I couldn't if I wanted to)
