Main Forum = CJ Wiley Forum now?

CJ believes in the information he is promoting, he believes it will benefit the pool community and he is passionate about it.

I've seen posts about Bert Kinister and his lack of production value and now posters are insinuating CJ is too 'slick' in his promotion and videos.

Is the pool community as a whole ever satisfied?

There is an old saying 'eat the hay and spit out the sticks'
If TOI is of no interest to you simply skip the thread... seriously is it that much work to scroll past a thread?

Now wait a minute CJ. Did I say that your technique is a passing fad?

NO, I agreed with Justin, that certain topics and threads tend to be a fad in the main forum.

I also mentioned that its too bad that I will never get to find out as to whether I might be missing out on something great because your technique
is 100%.

I said that I didn't care for the presentation of what you are selling.

That alone is what kept me from Pay Paling you.

Pretty simple.

if your a good pool player learning a few new shots can cost ya a whole lot more than 30-40$$ --- ive watched both CJs and Brumbacks vids and although i don't use all the techniques they instruct on i have learned 4-5 really great new shots --- those shots gonna stay with you the rest of your life and help win you lots of matches

i hope CJ sticks around and continues to try and help us lesser players get better and just pool in general.

I think it would be a good idea to give him his own section and move any posts that are made into the main forum into his own section.

AZB would probably need a few more Mods for that though.

Wow!!! This is the best post on this thread....Joey A. was "way ahead of his time"

Ahh...

It seems we've finally been able to answer that age-old question...

Why do very few pros ever offer advice on AZB?

Wow!!! This is the best post on this thread....Joey A. was "way ahead of his time" (it's like reading tomorrow's newspaper) on this one wasn't he. Thanks for sharing, this made my day.

I appreciate your story, post and sentiment. I am all for CJ telling stories. In fact I enjoy that. I am all for CJ providing tips. God knows I need all I can get. That being said, these tips and stories are all embedded with advertisements. If not started by him, any reasonable person can see the connotation and implication of the other threads. We have an ask the instructor, aiming sections, and we even have a place for people to sell things.

See, CJ is doing what they call content marketing. It is a current trend in online marketing that can be very effective. The idea is you throw out a lot of content and it is used to attract people to buy the product. For example, if you sell windows, you might post videos on how to buy windows, or what to look for in a quality window. It gets people interesting in windows, at the time they are interesting in windows to you, your site, ect... It Works!!!!

It is most effective though when you don't overdo the sales pitch. Others have mentioned many times in this thread and others but it hasn't helped. Rubbed some people the wrong way.

Moreso, as the original OP of this thread, I do not know how the conversation ever drifted to a debate over CJs value. I even think my suggestion of giving him his own section would be a huge benefit to him and is in support of him. My point was, if someone posted a Video of Stan Shuffett using CTE to run some racks that would be moved to another section, would it not?

If this thread in anyway adds to why pros dont post here than for that I am sorry. Wasn't my intention. I am sure CJ is thicker skinned than others that come on here and trash the AZ community. He has more class than that.

I think CJ came up with a DVD and a method he is very proud of and just went a little overboard in promoting it within a discussion format. The conversation here though is not about the value of the posts, but simply where they belong.

Seriously some people have nothing better to do but complain. Regardless of what forum I am on, if I see topics that have no interest to me, I just ignore them. It is a simple fail proof solution. Asking for sub-forums is so idiotic considering people besides himself are the ones initiating the threads.

So some rather see the same posts about chalk, cues, blah blah versus a legitimate pro offering a lot of advice & wisdom. This sounds like a great idea to help improve the game for people. I know my game went up 2 balls after reading about chalk recently!

I enjoy CJ's input...he's not fragmentive..an he knows ; what he knows..
his advertisememt is no diffrent then walking down main street..or for
that matter in to any store or fast food joint..If you don't like fruit juice..don't
drink it..I choose to walk through life with a open mind..I just don't believe
or agree with every thing..but I'm not going to waste my time debateing either.

I hope you stick around CJ. I've learned a lot and improved a lot since reading your TOI technique. I'm not looking to have the best text book looking stroke and patern play. I just want to improve my own game, make more balls, and win more often. TOI actually makes sense too me and it has proven itself on the pool table for me in the last month I've been working on it.

That said, I really don't care if CJ posts bother others. Those people don't give a rats a** about me so as long as I'm benefitting from CJ posts I'm all for it. Those that don't want it or his advertising can skip it and not buy anything from him. Pretty simple IMHO. Advertising is a part of life. Just accept it. Maybe it's because I work in television and I understand this.

yeah, let's run him off, like so many others...

CJ is a name brand player and champion. If he has something to say, or a video to put up I wouldn't mind seeing it, or reading about it. If he is selling I will buy or not buy. I don't know what you guys problem is.
I for one will read every one of his post's, as will most all of you.

I keep hearing this, what pro's have been run off here, Grady? I have followed this site on and off since 2005.

Best post in the thread.

You can lead a forum member to knowledge but you can't make them think.

A greenie for this post...:)

I think there should be a sub forum for people to debate how easy it is to skip over a thread vs putting certain topics into a sub forum.

Kind of like when the government creates "free speech" zones to keep protestors miles away from events?

there was a demand for the truth, the "MEAT", as opposed to the cow "MILK" of pool

Yes, those were some fun days.

Johnny Archer and I were just up in Ft. Wayne Indiana the day before and I beat him on the bar table 11/2, 11/3, then gave Tony Ellin (RIP) the 8 Ball and won 11/3.....we then made a game to go to Indianapolis to play the Game your described. After that Johnny Archer came to Dallas and I beat him again on 4/8 Tables AND 4.5/9 tables.

Johnny and I laugh about this (I still think Johnny was a better player overall, he just hadn't found the secret of the TOI yet ;)) and discussed it at the Mosconi Cup. Johnny was a pleasure being around and I learned some things that I have forgotten about heart, will to win and confidence. I haven't had the chance to compete consistently and I miss it, just not enough to play under the situations the players are under now.

I want the Game/Sport to get better and that's why I'm here. If you choose to believe it's to sell DVD's that''s ludicrous, but so is the world at times. I had no intention of making any Videos when I started posting here and I never had any intention of sharing my most valuable techniques.

I guess I could see there was a demand for the truth, the "MEAT", as opposed to the "MILK" of pool instruction. I'm not here to "bottle feed" anyone, I'm serving

Best,
