Earl and I were considered the best on 5/10 tables and it never came up for us to play each other. It's a gunfight, and he would have to play better than he did against Shane to win - it's a different world on the FIVE by TEN, the TOI Technique is brutally strong because you MUST hit every shot firmly - especially on worn cloth and of course that's what we would play on. ;) 'The Inner Game is the Teacher' www.cjwiley.com

That's what i'm talking about

let's get ready to rumble:smile:

]Obviously my memory on some details from back then is hazy

Do you remember the entry in 2008? Was it $3000 like the first year? For some reason I thought Dan lowered it the second year. Obviously my memory on some details from back then is hazy but since you paid the money I figure you will remember.

Hope you are feeling better sir.

apology excepted, thank you

Are you saying that the way Earl played against shane on that 5x10 might not be good enough to beat you on that table?

CJ, would you consider traveling to Florida and playing on.the Brunswick Centenial shown in the other thread? The table is in Cocoa Beach, Fla. where live streaming going to take place soon per the thread. You could work a deal where stream buyers get a little TOI instruction with their.purchase.

The table looks amazing as does the room.

I like your style. There is no one way to play this game really. Just look at the variety of styles amongst top players. There are however more concise ways of hitting the balls and moving through racks that just work more efficiently. This type of play is much less likely to break down in competition. You obviously demonstrate that in your recorded sessions .

I hope you dont let the nits here drive you away. Your work and time is appreciated.

That's a beautiful table! I actually had one like it growing up, but only for a couple years.

I'd gladly play anyone that's posted in this thread a set of 10 ball on that table with the 8.

For the record I don't "support" any tournaments

CJ -- there was one shot at the end that McMinn passed on that was the subject on here. The layout was shown and discussed here ad nausea and Shane made right choice in passing back to the shooter. Believe me, I watched the entire day and there were no questionable moves. Unlike other pool tournaments that I'm sure you support where friends let other friends win so they can garner Mosconi Cup points. Guess that 'problem' is now fixed.

JCIN - entry for second ring game was also $3,000. They did not get the turnout of number of players to enter as they hoped.

This was the year that Kiamco offered Scotty Townsend the 8 on a bar table and Scotty told him to keep his spot and beat him.

For the record I don't "support" any tournaments and have no idea what you're referring to so if you think you're "sure", you're probably mistaken.

If you were there than you are "sure" I didn't play in the 3k ring game.

I've played Scotty many times....he always accepted the 8 from me, he's a character, we've had some "atomic" matches, he's never short of fire power.

you have to know how to play the "pocket acceptance" spin and speed

Are you saying that the way Earl played against shane on that 5x10 might not be good enough to beat you on that table?

I didn't see much of the match, but I did talk to Earl about it and he thought so. He got a lot of shots off missed balls on that table. There's a certain style that you would have to know on that type of equipment, and it's a different game.

I had a 10' table in my pool room for 17 years and it had worn cloth and a REALLY deep shelf, so it played very tight. The shelf is more of a factor than the outer pocket size on certain shots and you have to know how to play the "pocket acceptance" spin and speed to create a bigger pocket zone.

Back on topic. I voted no and I mean no disrespect to CJ with my vote, I'll explain. I think current tournament players are the best option for TAR for several reasons, first and foremost they are playing at the highest level and consistency. Secondly these players are the tournament road warriors of today, they need all the support they can get to help keep them on the road. The profitability(or lack of) of being a pro these days has been discussed ad nauseum, it's dismal.
I like the fact that these TAR matches feature the top current players, it's what I personally want to see. I'm not saying there isn't a market for semi retired great players who are no longer active on the tournament trail. From a business standpoint I would say JCIN utilizing a lot of the top players in the game is just plain smart.

I didn't vote at all but one of the things we always debate intensely on here is whether players of other generations can win against the younger players. Several players of CJ's generation have been on TAR and those matches have all had pretty high interest and viewership if remember right.

Of course those players are still playing somewhat regularly. However CJ did say that he could be at 100% in three weeks with the right motivation so someone step up with some motivation. :-)

Also I think that the question is more broad than seeing CJ on TAR. I think the that the question was really do we want to see CJ matching up with top players on any stream for the cash? I think that for most people the answer to that is yes.

I think you're missing the most important consideration....."Is my head big enough to play on TAR?"

Whatever I do it's going to be in honor of the gentleman responsible for me playing pool in the first place, Orrin Cleeton, the owner of Cleeton's Pool Room where I grew up.

The Game gave me a way to get out of a town of 629 (Green City Missouri) people so I could enjoy all this good, clean fun with you guys. Thanks Orrin (RIP) God Bless

Realistically who can CJ beat? Of all the marquee players out there, CJ is a big underdog.

I think an Earl vs CJ match would generate the most interest. I would pay to see that.

Earl is a big favorite.

Oh boy, a new poster/hater with 9 posts.....I wonder....PJ? "ThePJman"

Yeah, it's got to be PJ, any other guesses, he's immediately going into "CJ Bashing".....how unique, you're the first one.

You're probably right, Earl must be the favorite, he's got such a great record against me.

I'm out of here, going mountain biking, it's a beautiful day in Texas. Bash away and we'll vote on who your leader is later tonight. 'Peace is the Teacher'

What planet did you just fall from? Either that or you are very young or very old and senile, sorry pal, but you put this on your self!

I'm sorry I thought you were the CJ Wiley that was the captain of the Mosconi Cup team.

I have nothing but respect for CJ. No bashing here.

And Earl would be the favorite. That's no knock, that's fact.

Like I said, I hope you get your shot at him....I would pay.
