Just an FYI, if anybody cares. I'm Ralph's oldest son Landon and thought I'd post his where 'bouts as I've seen him mentioned in a few old threads here. I've probably met some of you at one time or another as I used to go watch Dad play some here and there. Dad's doing fine right now and he did give up the game back in '07 after 5 bypass open heart surgery. They said he had just enough of a heart attack to save his life when they found the 5 blockages as the next one would've/could've been the BIG ONE. The stress of playing took it's toll some I think. He's doing just fine and still works out 3 days a week at a local Sr. Center. He wouldn't admit it, but I know he misses the game and the folks he's befriended over his MANY years involved with the game. It's been a HUGE part of his and our lives.
I just wanted to let his friend & folks know he's still alive kickin' @ 76!
i hope they have a pool table at the senior center
i can just imagine your daddy schooling the other seniors
a ralph moment .......
at snookers for the thursday 9 ball tourney
ralph wasnt playing, just watching that nite, i came in late.
standing next to ralph seated,
i noticed he was focused on the 3 cushion table, 4 asian kids playing
i asked ralph what he was watching so intently
he says "well brent , i'll tell ya, i been studying those boys for about 30 minutes,
i don't think they know what they're doing ....
a pause, smacks his lips like he always did........
i havent seen them MAKE a ball yet"
say hi to pops for me
I enjoyed playing your dad in the old Saturday and Wednesday tournaments at Beechmont Billiards. He was always willing to help a young kid out. I always thought it was funny how he would do that sorta chewing motion when he was down shooting. Glad to hear he is still running out.
