Missing a Stroud shaft?

A "customer" left a Stroud shaft with me for a new tip and never picked it up. It was for a cue he had "borrowed" from a friend, he said. I have had no contact with this guy since; I have made many phone calls to try to locate him. I think he was pretty uncool to abandon someone else's property and I want to return the shaft to it's owner.

If this is your shaft and can identify who had it and what it looks like, I'd like to return it to you. Please PM me here.

I hope the owner got his cue back!

Thanks, Robin Snyder

Just want to do the right thing

Thanks guys, but I'm just trying to correct someone else's wrong doing.

Worst thing is, this guy said he didn't care for the cue so he was going to "borrow" yet another (high end) cue from the same guy to see if he liked it better.

I'm easy to find and he's been seen around the bay area since this took place. He gave my buddy his number so I could contact him: still the same number I've been trying, still no answer or reply to my messages.

This fellow was from out of the country...I hope the cue didn't leave the area, it wasn't his.

Back so soon??? Amazing!

So here it is two days after I posted this and who should walk into the pool hall today but the "owner" of this shaft. What an amazing coincidence!!
He said he had been out of the country. Except during this period my pal saw him a number of times across town in a different poolhall.

Now he wants the joint changed to a Uniloc to fit his Predator!!

"So, where's the cue?" "Um...I sold it."

"I thought you had borrowed it from a guy to see if you liked it and you didn't so you were going to give it back." "Errr, um..., That guy's not around now. I sold it. I bought it and then, you know, sold it."

"You sold it without the shaft?" "Ummm...err, well, there were two shafts so I umm, took less with just one."

"You sold it without this shaft!!??" " Umm, yeah. For, you know...less."

Then he proceeded to ask prices on the joint work and I told him I'd see him tomorrow with the shaft.
Which I will return to him after he pays for the tip. It all sounds just too fishy. None for me, thanks.

Some people's kids......

You should start a thread trying to locate the new owner of the JW cue with only one shaft, sell him the second shaft, and use the money to fund a No Shaft Left Behind program for wayward cuemakers.

Har har har! Obviously a sick man.

Wayward cuemaker...guilty as charged.
Naaaa. It's not my stuff to sell. Good plan though. :)

I'm still disappointed that I haven't gotten a lead on the cue owner. Almost certainly in the Bay area. How many Stroud cues can there be?
Oh well...he's getting it back tomorrow.

Growing up in NYC, I never heard the word "hinky" used much; probably because there is a Yiddish equivalent that gets used instead.

But this whole situation, to me, pretty much embodies the word. Hinky.

Still looking for the Stroud shaft owner

So naturally the guy I got this Stroud shaft from has disappeared again.

I just wanted to get this to the top once more. I'd love to return this to it's owner.

What if the guy doesn't reappear.
There are a lot of needy Joss West collectors looking for Stroud shafts to rescue.
In fact, if it's a 5/16-14 piloted with checkered ringwork, 13 mm or close, I may even be interested.

Well I'm a patient guy so I reckon I'll give it quite a while before I consider selling it. A couple years perhaps. It's not like it's in the way.
The hit quality on the cue this shaft is from was fantastic, as good as anything I've ever tried, but 13mm at least and ivory ferrules: WAY too much deflection for me. No wonder Stroud developed the Smartshaft.

Anyhow, I'll bet someone is missing this shaft a lot.
