Ultimate 10 Ball Championship 2013: (JUNE)

No bank or one pocket like the last time?

I think you are confusing the Ultimate 10-Ball Championships with the Southern Classic. Both of these events will be in Tunica in June, back to back, but under different management.

This will be the first time in Tunica for the Ultimate 10-Ball Championships, promoted by Badi Nazhat. It will be the second year for the Southern Classic, promoted by Diamond Billiard Products, Inc. It is the Southern Classic that has banks, one pocket, and 9-ball (plus the "Bigfoot" 10-Ball Challenge).

ATlarge is correct. The Ultimate 10 Ball Championship is a separate event but held at the same place as the Southern Classic, four days ahead of the SC.

The SC will have banks, one pocket and 9 ball.

The Ultimate 10 Ball Championship will have a MEN'S event and a WOMEN'S event.

I guess I can't understand who the promoter is. Isn't Ken Shulman a referee or TD?

Are these the same folks who put on the Galveston tournament?

Just to be absolutely clear: These are not the same folks who put on the Galveston tournament!

They had me till I saw the $500 entry fee. Too rich for my blood, being an amateur. But, I WILL be there for the Southern Classic.

That sux. It would be a good excuse to buy a nice vest.

I think the entry fee is comparable to the U.S. OPen 9 Ball Championship's entry fee, but this event will have MORE ADDED MONEY.

Ken is one of the Main TD's for this great event.

So these promoters are putting up all this cash and some of the pros they should attract will be stuck playing Bonus Ball. If I were one of these promoters I would not go the nasty route and tell the players that if they miss my event this year they can also plan on missing it next year, but I would tell all the players who signed up and played in my event that THEIR spots are guaranteed for next year.

I would keep their spots open next year until thirty days before the event. Those who do not play this year would go on a waiting list and only get in after all the players who supported me this year have either signed up or opted out. Then those who skipped this year could be allowed onto the charts in the order in which they applied. Loyalty counts for something.

We have been advised repeatedly the Bonus Ball participants can take a week off at their discretion (unpaid) with alternates filling in admirably for them. Might be a good time to a take a break from Vegas, no?

How come nobody has queried as to why Zach Ballas has dropped out of TD'ing this tournament??? Did everybody just read past his two posts or did they just choose to ignore them???

Just curious.

Maniac (thinks there may be something fishy going on here)

Good one ! This tourney is obviously NOT for the working class. 3 months notice too.

my answer

This is a great event and great money for everyone. As far as me resigning, it is not something that needs to be discussed. I am for the players and the game. There is no room for gossip or any reason for me or anyone else to potentionally cause damage to the event by talking about what took place. I will always love the game, and try to further the greatness of our sport and hobby. Deep down I did not want to resign, but it was something I chose to do based on the circumstances involved.
