They say there are no side effects but they're wrong..
Staying at the Value Place here and I had to switch rooms the day before Easter because the guy up above my room made too much noise.
The room they put me in had those darn bed bugs. Got bit about 10 times. those darn things itch like a mosquito bit on steroids.
Got to clean everything and spray everything with alcohol again.
I might still head to the Expo but I'm not sure. I didn't enter any of the tournys and now it is too late. It would be pretty tough. The drive would really take it out of me.
I shot tonight at Brickyard and played real well. I'm ready to play again.
If anyone ever had these darn bugs it takes up a whole day of cleaning and washing to make sure they're all gone.
Plus giving lessons I don't want anyone to worry about me bringing some little friends along.
The motel situation is pretty bad out here. It seems these darn bedbugs are everywhere.
I even looked this room over a little before I took my stuff in.
Tomorrow I will have to clean all me stuff one item at a time. Tedious but has to be done.
If I don't go East I'm going to have to figure out a good poolhall to go to in another town.
One man a van and the road...............
I just want to share this with players out there because this could effect the way you play.
If you are somewhere that you get bit by these little monsters there can be some bad side effects.
The itching is about triple of a mosquito bite but it doesn't stop there.
They say on all the websites that it effects people emotionally so they don't sleep well. That is for sure.
But the night that i know i got bit I had trouble sleeping and I had no fear of the bites. I felt totally wore out and I even woke up having a little trouble breathing.
I think they need to do some more research on what these bites are doing to us physically.
I did keep digging on the internet and found a few that said some people with asthma had some trouble that caused medical treatment.
So be careful if you get bite. This could greatly effect your pool game.
Especially being diabetic. Just like people with asthma our immune system is just not as strong as a normal person.
I woke up the first night feeling like I had a hangover. I don't drink but did a long time ago so I know how a hangover feels like. I had no idea I was bitten until I took a shower. I had slept a little over 10 hours. Not normal for me.
Now the second night I went to bed at 4:30AM and woke up at about 3:30 PM.
These bites do something to us that nobody has figured out.
Isopropyl 91% alcohol will kill these bedbugs on contact. I sprayed every crack and crevice around the bed thoroughly. No more bites.
But I found that they only need to feed about every 7 to 10 days. So lets say you only had a very small infestation like 1 or 2 adult bedbugs you will only get bit every so many days.
I did find out that if you can sleep with the lights on that you will not get bit no matter how many there are.
The gal at one motel I stayed at said the maintenance guy that stayed on site had a terrible infestation but he slept with the light on all the time. He never got bit.
When he quit they had to really work on this room for sure. he could have been a source for many problems in the motel.
I really wanted to go to the Expo. The day I got bit first was the last day to sign up for the tournaments. I even had Sean here from AZ offer to share a room with me but at that time I already knew it was a no go. I would never do that to someone with the chance I could bring these bugs along.
I've had to get rid of these bed bugs about 3 times now. After a couple of times you become an expert for sure.
Today i am doing all the cleaning and disinfecting that needs to be done. Then I will load my stuff in the car as it is cleaned.
Not sure where I will go but I'm sure I will not be taking any of these little buddies along with me.
Bottom line though. If you get bit be careful about doing any gambling for sure for awhile. These bites do something to us that isn't really explained.
Good Luck to anyone else that is unlucky enough to encounter these.
Get rid of them as soon as possible.
