On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Lags in Columbus Indiana wed night tourny...........

I packed up my van and headed to Columbus planning on heading out after the tournament but things never turn out like you plan.

When I got there I met up with Big Arm john, Bobby Sr and Jr and some players from Louisville also.

I played Bobby Sr for 3rd and 4th. I lost and then watched the rest of the tournament.

I watched Bob win the next match. He's still quite the grinder. And then finally lost to the young gun that had won the winners bracket.

Watching Bob Sr I noticed how he put everything into every shot that he took. Allot of players could learn from this. He's 65 years old and has all the aches and pains that we all have once we hit around 50 or so.

I really thought his persistence was going to pull him through but it wasn't in the cards. he's a grinder for sure. If your going to win against him you better roll up your sleeves and put on your boots because your in for a battle.

When I left there about 3:30 AM I headed back towards Indy. If I go to galesville, Ill I have to go back through Indy anyway.

I sleep on some real thick foam padding that I spent about $100 for and I realized that I left it at the Value Place. I need this to protect my ribs yet from an accident I had where I broke a bunch of ribs 2 years ago. I went back there at 5:30 AM with the thought of maybe staying there for another week. They were full and the gal at night wouldn't go up to the room and let me get my pad. She's not at the desk at night but in a room so I woke her up. She was kind of cranky.

I got another room and went back to Value Place at 11:00AM and got my pad.

I went hunting for another room and got my oil changed while waiting.

Got to the room and I was totally beat. Slept for about 6 hours and woke up. Just what you don't want to do on the road is stay awake for a day and try to catch up on the sleep.

So anyway I'm here for another week and I will likely spend the whole week playing and giving a few lessons.

I want to really work on the game.

Here I was looking for a tournament . there's one right here in Indy at the Brickyard this Sat.

10 ball. Race to 5. $40 entry fee. Just what I wanted.

Made a promise to myself.........

One answer,
Buffalo Billiards, New Orleans/Metairie, Louisiana. Is the place with the action! We welcome you Gene.

No more smoke........

For me life is not even worth living if I had to be in the smoke.

I love pool so much that if I'm around a poolhall and there is smoke I have a hard time not going in there. Like so many other players that are just victims of this too long allowed practice of polluting the breathing air of others in small confined places.

Someday every state will be smoke free. Every poolhall will be smoke free.

That will be a huge plus for pool and a building blockade for new business.

As for now many people wouldn't even think of it because of the smoke.

I hope I'm around to see it.

How sweet that would be.

Buffalo Billiards is a great poolhall. Louisiana is off my list for now.

Hey Gene,
Buffalo Billiards is the only pool hall I have been in down here with 2 large smoke machines in the from on each side of the pool hall, by the gambling tables. I do not like smoke either. But when you are up front by these tables there is very little smoke bothering you. It hurts my bad eyes. And makes my nose stop up.

Now, you have gone and taken Louisiana off of your travel plans. Wow! What can I say? Nothing I guess.
Many Regards,

Hello Real Bartram,
How are you doing these days. I am glad to see you posting. When are you coming down here? Hope all is well with you and your family! Cliff Joyner and Richie Richeson have been playing a lot at Buffalo Billiards, the worlds pool hall the last week or two. Lot's of big action down here. All we need is for you to come on down!!!
Many Regards,

It's a shame...........

That's a shame there Lock. That any human being has to deal with that to play the game they love.

For the players that have lived there all their lives it seems like just normal to deal with the smoke.

Years back I used to have allergies real bad. I had sinus surgery and ear surgery.

After the surgeries I still had trouble. Didn't seem to help.

Once out of the smoke I can breath great again.

This last little stint in the south took about 4 months for my nose and sinuses to clean out.

Once you can breath good and feel good you don't ever want to go back.

And it kills me not to go into these great pool halls because of the action and players I could teach but it could also kill me if I go into them.

And those smoke eaters just don't do enough I'm afraid.

49,000 documented second hand smoke deaths documented in the USA each year and I'm going to try and not be one of them.

Anyone that is in the second hand smoke is playing Russian roulette with their life and health and assuring they will feel kind of bad all the time they breath in that smoke.

Good luck there Lock and all the other pool players around the country that have to play in the smoke in their home areas.

How does the song go by Freddy Bender.

I can see clearly now the rain has gone. It should be, I can breath clearly now the smoke is gone.

And it some cases your eyes get so sore you can't see well after awhile and the smoke is so thick you can't see who is across the room.

If louisiana goes no smoking you will see allot of me for sure there Mr lock.

And that's a promise.

Good Luck

He could be one of the best in the country real quick.....

Bobby Jr plays real sporty right now. And that would be a good idea for sure. I don't know if his work would allow him to go.

I stayed in Indy for another week and the biggest reason is I flat out like this kid. He could beat anyone in the world with some more pool knowledge.

We only play $100 sets when we play. I only play $50 sets with his dad.

They are both really good people. We need players like ourselves to keep each other sharp. If you bet bigger and someone loses $1000 or $2000 the practice is over.

We are going to play all week and I am going to help Bobby Jr increse some of that raw talent that he has right now.

I shouldn't say all raw. Bobby Sr I'm sure is a big reason Jr's game is where it's at. And like I said it's pretty sporty.

I guarantee one thing for sure. When I show Jr I will make sure that Sr is there also. They both play jam up and I have seen Sr play at his top game and I really don't know who plays the best at the top game. And it doesn't matter. it ain't like they're going to square off for $1000 or anything. It's just something that isn't going to happen.

I'll tell you one thing for sure though. If I do stick around here for awhile i will get in dead punch myself and as far as Jr goes when we get done he will probably want all his action but I would gladly take half for sure.

Whatever happens here it will be all good and positive also.

You never know what the road will bring.

I know this much you won't be playing me for the 6 k to your 5 k

Got it on with Bobby Sr tonight........

Had a good workout.

Played pretty good the first set and won it 9-7.

Bob did what Bob does and played real sporty the second set. I lost playing we needed to win by 2 on the hill.

We started the third set and were tied 3-3. Bob said he was tired so we'll pick it up where we left off tomorrow or the next day or the next day.

If I don't get out of Indy after this week I better rent a house.

I really appreciate Bobby Sr and Jr being here and having someone to shoot at.

I'm going to get ahold of Brian Groce and see if he wants to play some this week inbetween my lessons.

I showed some of my Perfect Aim magic to Bobby Sr tonight after we got done playing. He liked what he saw.

One of his first comments was, that's how you were making that shot so easily. I said Yep.

I showed him how i measure the shots. It's on the end of my video.

It shows you how to measure an 1/8 1/4 1/3 and 1/2 ball hits.

The way I measure these is so simple a 3rd grader could do it. But nobody ever figured out how this could be done.

it was a great night and tomorrow there is a ten ball tourny at the Brickyard. Starts at 1:00 so i need to sign of.

So it looks like one more week for sure at the Brickyard.

Geno,

When you're on the road, how do you get your internet connection? I assume Starbucks and hotels, but just curious. The slow speed of some of these travel connections would drive me nuts.

Heading to the Brickyard for the tourny........

Looks like a bad turnout.

I called and it looks like about 8 players were there at 12:30. But you never know. There might be 32 there by the time I get there.

Maybe it will be a good day for Perfect Aim.

I'll pass out some of my $100 guarantee fliers. I'll put a $100 bill in their pocket. Then we'll do the Perfect Aim lesson. If it's not the best thing they have seen since they were playing pool in the first 15 minutes of the lesson we can stop and they can keep the $100 bill.

I think this is a little better than a money back guarantee.

One man a van and the road.

I'll even do this with Chris Bartram.

Maybe not. then I know I wouldn't play him. he'd be playing jam up....:eek::grin-square:

You and I both know you will never play for the kind of money we talked about . Stick to playing guys your speed like bob sr

Had some fun today and some great competition..

I think there were only 9 to 12 players in the tournament but that is not to say there wasn't some stiff competition.

I lost my first match To woody. I played pretty bad and he played real good.

Then I caught a gear. Kind of 5-0ed and 5-1nd each match until i got to the final.

The guys name is Brian Greg. Plays pretty good.

The race is to 5 and he jumps out to a 3-0 lead. I finally get to shoot and run 4 racks of 10 ball to get on the hill. I win the last game with a real solid safe.

Then the fun started. Brian runs the first 2 racks in the second set. Then he breaks and the balls are a mess. I play safe and he hands me the cue ball not even trying to get a hit.

I shoot the 1 ball and try to go up to the other end of the table. I'm at an angle that is almost impossible to scratch in the side on the way up. The side sucked the cue ball right in.

Brian runs out the rack and breaks and runs the next 2 racks.

I got one shot with ball in hand and I scratched in the final set.

This tourny was allot of fun and the competition was great. It doesn't matter how small, you can still have a great time.

I'm sure allot of players have done this in their own poolhalls with a poor turnout.

I know this for sure. Brian Greg can play.........and he knew he was in a tough match and showed some tough right back.

Great job Mr Greg if you read this.
