Question about McDermott cue (maybe identity the model of it)?

Does anyone here know what the value of this Prototype cue might be (a fair market value estimate for the cue in new condition)? I do not own the cue, but am very interested in getting it from a guy on here. Thanks for your opinions about the value of the cue.

bump for any opinions on what the value of the cue might be (any estimates would be greatly appreciated). It is not my cue, but I am very interested in getting it. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I read that Elite cues were actually custom made cues (by a cue maker named Dick Coons), and he made a similar looking cue to the one in the pictures that I provided.

I know that the Mcdermott cue is just a production cue, so not worth near as much as the Elite cue in the link above. I just wanted to make sure that the Mcdermott is not an asian import (hard to tell the difference, because the asian imports really look high quality these days). Not sure how long Mcdermott has been importing their cues. I am told that the cue in my pictures was made in 2004. Thanks.

It is a high quality cue, and as for value, I dont have an Elite cue catalog handy. I would guess 395 retail.

The knight piece inlays look completely different, and much larger on the Elite cue. The veneers (in the points) are also red on the Mcdermott, and a different color on the Elite cue. I am told that the Mcdermott is one of a kind, but not sure if that hurts the value or helps it (I know that sounds very stupid for me to think). I am not sure how well Mcdermott cues hold their value. I am guessing that a $400 Mcdermott cue would be worth $200 or maybe even less (because maybe they are not really sought after). I mostly just wanted to make sure that the cue was made with the same quality standards as any other mcdermott cue. Since it is a prototype, does that mean that it was not as well made as any future cues that would have been the same model? Thanks.

How do you know it's a McDermott? Sure looks a lot like the Elite cue you linked to.

Just take a bunch of good pics and send them to info@mcdermottcue.com with a detailed description of what you know. Ask nicely and they'll help you out as best as they can.

The customer service there is great. I'm sure they can tell you all about it, if it is a McDermott.

Hope you get the answers you're looking for.

McDermott has been importing cues since the early 2000's I think. At first you couldn't tell which ones they were, but now you can.

McDermott still makes cues in the US. Only their lower end lines like Lucky cues are imported.

If you want to know anything about a McDermott I would contact McDermott. I am personally unfamiliar with this cue as it is "modern", I really know "vintage McDermotts. But IMHO this looks like a nice cue and should certainly be worth more than $120.

EDIT: As I said I am unfamiliar with this cue. Value is always a matter of what somebody will actually pay for a cue. I would give you double the $120 estimate somebody made right now, for real, and I would feel comfy doing it.
