Night or day?

Do you prefer playing during the day or night? I personally prefer playing at night but when the local halls all close around 11 it's kinda tough. I guess when I say night I mean till 3 or 4 in the morning. Don't get me wrong any time is good but I prefer late night early morning.

Where I played in NY for 25 years, the serious players started coming in around 11 am on. By 7 pm there might be the owner and one or two left, that was when the kids and the casual players began showing up. Kind of the opposite of most places, I guess. Doesn't really matter to me any more, I don't get out to play much, though I may change that, depending on how I feel physically:rolleyes:

For me, pool-wise, 4 pm feels like early morning. I can hardly hit a ball while the sun's up. Light coming through windows causes me to to have a narcoleptic fit.

Our local joints close up around 2 but I'm game to go til 4 am if the opportunity is there.

Before 7PM the time is half off at the room I frequent. I like to get there early so I can get loose and practice. I just can't seem to get there at opening unless I stay up all night though. I enjoy practicing before many others start coming in. I like playing at night as well as long as there is some sort of action to get into so there is at least the option to outrun the high table time. I also enjoy playing late night, after hours when possible. I guess it doesn't matter, I just like to play whenever.

As per usual

I agree with CreeDo

I'll play in the early afternoon but I can't focus too well if theres ANY kind of natural light coming in. I have a really hard time playing weekend tournaments for that reason. That and the fact that I hardly ever wake up before 1pm lol

so yeah, night is my answer. Wanna get some hashbrowns, Soco? :-)

Me too Bud. I'm a Vampire when it comes to pool or just about anything else. I come awake at night. I could start at 8 or 9 and play until breakfast, get some shut eye and do it all over again. I get some of my best work done in the shop after 12 am.

Quite often, I will come home from League or at the hall and start working in the shop.

Depending on who is closing our hall, it will stay open until 3 am sometimes and I am A OK with that.

Amen, brother. The night time is the right time.

-Blake <-- gonna go rack em up right now.

All night

Golf all day and pool all night. Too bad work, sleep, married life, not being rich enough, etc. screws it up 99.9% of the time. Man, if someone is enjoying this kind of life, I envy you!

I used to play a lot at a pool hall in Bryan, TX, and I was in good with the night manager. We would close up the joint, then play pool there until about 10 AM, quite often. We'd have to pack up and leave before the morning crew came in, just so we didn't get caught (or we'd at least leave and get breakfast before showing up after they opened).

Years later, I was diagnosed with Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome and Non-24 Sleep-Wake Disorder. I had no idea there was a diagnosis for that kind of thing, but it fit me perfectly.

I'm officially a Vampire now. :)
