found a bunch of players pictures

I am looking forward to launching my website, BilliardArchives.com, in mid-summer. It will showcase over 15,000 photos I have amassed over the years in addition to other items of interest.

Just great, I'll have to come up some absurd excuse this summer for my boss as to why I've spent days looking at pictures online. :p

I cant believe how many times Colorado was mentioned...must of been a happening place a few years back:cool:

I was thinking the same with OR/WA. I'm guessing some of them were also just passing through, but it's better than being a talentless wasteland. :embarrassed2:

Jam >> yes! John Lovitz. Was driving me crazy. I even remembered the first name but forgot where I knew the face from. He'd be the actor if they made a movie with Denny Searcy.

Just so you all know...

99% of the pool photos on Rod Curry's website were either taken by me, are owned by me or have been given to me by the owners of the photos to share in my Facebook Wall of Fame photo albums and the website I have been working on for two years. I realized that when I posted these photos that some people were going to copy them. I didn't have a problem with that. What I didn't consider is that Curry would steal hundreds of them & use them on his own personal website and pass them off as his own.

Since I started posting the old pool photos on my Facebook page, I have received many requests for the use of the photos. All I & the people that have given me these photos ask is that credit be given for each & every photo that is used. When I first found out Curry had taken them, I asked him to at least put captions underneath each one crediting the owners of the photos. He couldn't even be bothered to do that - just took the lazy way out & wrote on the top of the page that they came from my wall.

The reason that his captions do not make sense is that he is talking about when he played these people. They have nothing to do with the photo other than being of the person that he claims he played.

I have asked him to not to use my photos & his response was to remove the link. How Macguy stumbled across my photos again is a mystery to me unless Curry has put up another site that I don't know about.

Because of Curry, I have been forced to lock the 25 Wall of Fame albums containing over 5000 photos that I have posted on Facebook & only open them to friends by request.

Thanks Mary -- I did notice a few of mine in Rod's collection -- and no credits ANYWHERE for any of the photos. I really appreciate that you ALWAYS give credit where credit is due for photos. Thank you again, and I always enjoy your photo posts on Facebook :):)

Hi
I am sorry I caused such a problem. I came across the pictures when I googled the name Big Bob Ogburn. That is what popped up.
What you did is not the problem -- it's just that because Rod basically just helped himself to photos that other people already worked hard to create, scan, ID and/or post, besides stealing the photos, Rod is kind of stealing credit that belongs with others, like the photographers Bill Porter & Mike Haines or Mary K -- who is the one that scanned and posted (with permission of the original owners) many of these pics.

Exactly, Steve. I couldn't have said it any better.

I don't have a problem with Macguy or anyone else seeing & enjoying these photos. I believe photos are for sharing. They're not worth a damn if they sit in a drawer & no one ever sees them. I just couldn't keep my mouth shut any longer since every couple weeks or so someone posts something about Curry's great photo collection. I not only spoke up for me but for you & every other person who owns each photo & allowed me to include their work in my collection.

Mary thanks for doing all you have done for pool, and restoring its history.

I had one snap shot of David Lee And myself infront of the Sands Jack Johnson "Last Call for 9 Ball" with the Sands "Rat PAck" sign behind us. Johnny won it. It was such a great pic it captured Vegas and the sign, which is more important than we were. It's the ONLY pic of me playing pool ever(until 2006) from 1983 when I got a box at home and from 85-06 there isnt a single pic of me. :(. I'll keep looking, i think its gone forever....:angry:

...There's an actor who looks just like this, and now I'm gonna go nuts remembering the name.

I was thinking the same thing, lol. I actually met him at the Peppermill in Vegas over 25 years ago. He was with 2 girls who obviously had a few screws loose and he was sitting at a table next to me and i knew he was from Queens also and we talked and his dad lived about a mile from my dad.
Very nice guy.
