It's never over with the aiming systemaniacs. Busti is holding out and just doesn't want to give up his secrets.![]()
He didn't discuss a thing about the way he aims, only that he aims thicker for outside english shots and looks at the OB last.
It's a shame - TAR was close, but didn't quite ask the right questions. Justin almost had it but said "low" instead of "left" and if after that they setup a cut to the left and asked him to spin around with outside and he put his tip far left again, you could have drilled down further as to why his tip is left of the left edge when he intends to hit right of center.
Never once did anyone ask him about pivoting into center from the left CB edge. Maybe a sly comment like, "Have you ever thought of pivoting while standing up instead of over the shot" might trigger him into an entirely different conversation.
Donny Perryman and I knew what questions to ask and we got a WAY different conversation. Not a "ya ya ya that's what I do" - but his history of how he developed, why he retained his mechanical pivot and even how Marlon was one of the only guys who didn't because he came up through snooker and not pool. Most fascinating 20 mins ever, imo.

Imagine that.
I totally understand. That is basically how I have been playing for 45 years until CJ introduced TOI.
Like Busty & Sigel, I never thought about CB 'squirt'/deflection. If one never thinks about it, then it does not consciously exisit. The mind has made the compensation subconsciously.
Then CJ comes out with TOI & now I am focused & thnking about CB 'squirt'/deflection & have to get the Spin Swerve out of conscious thought & into the subconscious or get it illiminated through the mechanical physics of the shot.
Perhaps that is why many are fearful or have been made fearful by others regarding the use of english. In reality it is rather easy when one simply gets the brain & worry regarding the physical complexity of it out of the picture.
It is simply decide to shoot with a type of english & make the one conscious plan for it & then let the mind subconsciously do the rest. Basically it is called 'FEEL'.
Have you developed a 'feel' for it or are you going to constantly try to analyze it & try to calculate it with your brain or a scientific calculator?
If one leans towards the second option they will not ever shoot well with english. IMHO
I totallly understood Busty & I don't speak Phillipino. I could have heard the question & turned the sound off & understood just from seeing his motions with the stick & where he pointed relative to the two(2) balls.
Anyway it is simple & that is what it should be about. Making the complexity of the game simple.
Is Busty or Sigel the same level player without english? I don't think so.
I also think that anyone that does not employ english is playing at a lower level or 2 or 3 than they are probably capable of playing. Again JMHO.
Regards,
It actually appears to me that he is doing something very similar to TOI land. It's mostly a thought process and less a shooting process. Notice, he pointed to the closest side of pocket to focus on for the object balls final destination. Although he "knows" the ball will go toward center pocket once the english is applied, the alignment and focus of aim is towards the undercut side of the pocket(exact same as TOI). All of the pro's I have talked to think about aiming this same way so I believe there must something to it. It's really the ordering of the thoughts that is important I believe.
One may think this way...I am going to use left/outside, I line up for center pocket, i feel the english with this speed will make the OB go in the pocket so I will adjust using BHE or by aiming to hit the cue ball thicker or thinner.
The thought order of better players seems to be..I will use left/outside, I line up for the thick side of the pocket. Address CB with english and ball goes in.
A subtle but very important distinction at least in my mind.![]()
Similar to TOI, except that he uses outside English to throw in the object ball instead of inside English to deflect the cue ball to "throw" the ball in.
