Thanks Maxwell

Just wanted to say that it is an honor to even be compared to the great players from the past (Mr. Mosconi). I will mention that there were no fouls during this run - by this I mean I never touched an object ball with my cue or otherwise other than my tip hitting the white ball, at one time touching an object ball with your sleeve was a foul AS IT SHOULD BE. No jump shots eiher, another fact is that I was completly free of any influence of drugs or alcohol or as C.J. would say 'real eyes'. I really was going to be happy with any run over 350 and the table did not have shaved slate near the pocket - as if to create a downward slide for any approaching ball. If anything the table had some issues that held me back many different times. I have run over two hundred more than one hundrerd different times but prior to this had only ran over three twice. I understand that rotation pool is the modern day game of choice in the tournaments however one facet I love about disciplines like One Pocket and 14.1 is that the player is not dictated or forced to pocket his or her shots in any particular order FREEDOM. Plus in 14.1 re-rack there are many choices and it's up to the player at the table to make the correct decision and or get the full value of what the table has to offer. So again thanks for all the kind responses I thank God for giving me the hand-eye coordination and perseverence to complete this - during the run around one hour and forty-five minutes I felt as alive as I have ever felt plus I did find the center of the cue ball and of the pocket. I am currently in the process of burning the DVD off the hard drive of the DVR, after I do the voice over and a few geek squad tech savy details I will start a thread here on AZBilliards 14.1 section for anyone who might be interested in purchasing the DVD. More than anything I am thankful that this might spark some interest in 14.1 than I am breaking anyones record (even if it is Schmidt). I would be fibbing even I did not say that breaking Schmidt's old record was not a bit of feather in my cap.

Wow!

That is impressive.
Congratulations Danny!

Thanks Mark Grieffin and csi. Do you think they will ever hold a pool tournament where the draw is not done behind closed doors? You know what Charlie Rich said about what goes on behind closed doors. It would be cool to see once in my life where they have a draw at a pool tournament where it's like the Chicago lottery and or someone just draws names out of a hat and the names are immediatley wrote down on the bracket board out in the public (maybe some over head projector where the public can SEE it being done. Or in other word as steak n' shake would say 'if it's out in site it must be right'. I feel that there are a few that do know what goes on behind closed doors (power trip and all). Hope you don't think I am all just hot air I just like to see everythang' kept on a level playing field. I real eyes' that your tournaments are on the squar and all but was interested in your input and if you think it would attract more players if they could actually see the draw instead of a behind the scenes computer deal.

OK, guess Danny will have to settle for highest prime numbered run ever on video.

Hope someday he runs 541... the next prime after 526.

Congrats, Danny! Super job to have that kind of focus, and while the camera was running, too.

A big thanks

I would like to also thank John and Sky Richards with Logger Head Acres Turtle Farm for providing me with great gourmet meals and Ethan for providing the Lipton brisk iced tea - could not have done it without yall'.

Danny, I asked this in a now long buried thread: did anyone pick up the CB during the run to clean it and if so, who, and, were the balls polished/cleaned/wiped down at any time during the run?

And, I am compelled to comment: your respect and admiration for the past greats of the game is *hugely* refreshing. I so much wish that more of your contemporaries offered similar props to the giants of the game.

lol, Danny, you are quickly becoming my new hero.

This has been a *long standing* gripe of mine: closed door draws. At the US One Pocket Open last year it took so long for the the draw to be done and trotted out all the players in the tournament room joked about how slow the computer must be running... but no one was laughing.

Danny and Lou I totally agree with both of you on many points here. What a lot of us would like to see is a world 14.1 tournament back again. As most of you all know the 14.1 tournament that Charlie at Dragon promotions runs every year now IS NOT a World Championship but he does get away with calling it the world tournament.
I am officially calling out Mark Griffon to put together an official sanctioned World 14.1 Championship and where the draw for the event is out in the open for everyone to see instead of behind closed doors to benefit the tournament promoter and his players pockets.
A blind draw is the way to go and also a double elimination instead of a round robin tournament would be best in my mind.Mark Griffon if your listening and step up to put this together im on board to be a sponsor and also help promote a legitimate World 14.1 tournament.

You are rich and connected. Why don't you do it? The criteria for holding a WPA world championship are known . You love 14.1 so make it happen. Mark is already doing plenty for pool .

Hey goofball Me and mark have had many conversations so fly away and mind your own business and who asked you anyways as my comment was for mark not you.Why don't you make that video of you actually being able to make a case from start to finish like you stated you could do until then you are to be known as jb cases case designer not casemaker. So fly away little little bug.Sorry to danny for Jb cases intruding on your thread.

Again Mark think about it and give me a call you got my number.

BTW everybody look at the video below and support America.....

There's been a major error.

I did not run 379. :o Going back over the video on the DVR tonight I saw that I missed once early in the run and did not catch the error until now. I did not run the 379 that I had thought previously, the correct number of balls pocketed in this run is 351. I apologize for any confusion but I still feel that it was a great run that ended on a skid. I understand now that it is NOT the most balls pocketed on camera, however I will still have this available for the public to view - once I figure out how to convert irf. format to a dvd. I feel compelled to predict that once I repair the table and have it re-covered that 400 might be around the corner. I read once that self awareness and arrogance don't work well together, yellow journalism was not my intention here and again I apologize for 'jumping the gun'. I also hope this does not affect Jay Helfert and Fatboy's kind offer. Plus I did mis-cue once in the run and made the ball in the pocket. I was happy with any run over 350 but this does not surpass Mr Schmidt's record of 366 and i stand corrected.

My comment was for you. Why do you need to have conversations with Mark? Doesn't he have enough on his plate running a huge international league, putting on many pro events and building a new league to fund a pro tour?

You're rich, so you tell us, you are connected, so you tell us, you're a professional, so you tell us, you're a great businessman, so you tell us, so why do you need Mark Griffin to make this tournament happen.

You can put up the money, follow the WPA's guidelines, and do it yourself. Give yourself a wildcard entry and then you can say you competed in a world championship.

I would make an amendment though, make the tv tables run til you miss even if the shooter finished the game. That way there is a slight chance of capturing a historic run on video.

Funny Danny but I was talking about this run on Monday night at my local hall and I said... "Straight pool can be boring to watch at times but the best parts (especially in huge runs like this..) of any run is when you get into trouble and shoot your way out of it.." "Those are the shots you remember the most and the most enjoyable to see."

Congrats again on a monster run. Anything over 150 to me is pretty awesome let alone 300!! I really wish all of you 14:1 guys loads of luck. It seems to me that the interest in 14:1 is picking up!!

Fun with numbers

I was wondering if this was the biggest "prime number" run in history, for 379 is, indeed, a prime number. Even if a higher run is videotaped, this will likely remain the "highest prime numbered run" on videotape.

Hell of a run, Danny!

Nice catch, Stu. Although the likelihood that, in the future, the chances of a higher run caught on video that just so happens to be a prime number is also pretty good -- there are many prime numbers between that 379 and 541 (the latter of which would be the first eligible prime number to beat Mosconi's non-prime 526).

Prime or not, regardless how you slice it, that 379 is a mind-boggling number, and is reminiscent of the giants of our sport (e.g. Mosconi, Crane, Cranfield, et al.).

Heck of a run is RIGHT!

Danny, a big congratulations coming your way from NJ. Truly a phenomenal feat... I'm excited to hear the details when I see you next. Way to go!
