last pocket 8ball sucks

I'm getting interested in this now......
....will you at least negotiate?

Buy a regulation cue ball....
Ronnie Allen sometimes bought a set of Hyatt Centenials and would donate them to the house.

i offered to use the 3 ball as a cue ball from a different table, as there was no 3 ball in our set. so it would have been perfect, we win-He wouldn't go for that, he is smart.

yes they are going to negotiate now, they are cool about that

I know what you mean. The rules are indentical for both sides and after a few games most players get used to them, whatever bar variant it may be. However, in my experience, I never saw a game of bar last pocket 8 ball (pretty much the only pool game we play in this region of Europe) played on what you'd consider a good table with good equipment. To truly learn this game it's not enough to remember the rules, which you already said are among the most complicated ones in pool world. A man needs to put aside everything he knows about pool so far, about equipment, cue ball behavior and conventional tactics. Those things don't really work here. A friend of mine compared it to tennis. If a man played tennis on a rocky terrain, with rubber balls, damaged or broken rackets, curvy lines and uneven net for 10 years, even though his real skill wouldn't be especially high, he could beat Roger Federer if they played on that same terrain. That's the difference between your pool and ours.

the tactics i had figured out after a few gams, i play one hole, i know how to move enough for that game. It was the big CB and the you lose your inning if you make a strip and solid, everything else i can fade. and i'm the weaker of the 2 of us.

Wait, you lose the turn if you make a solid and a stripe at the same time? That rule makes no sense, I don't know where they got that from, but as I said, there are countless variations. Regarding the bigger CB, in our sets the CB is usually different (not only the size but the texture) so you need to learn its behavior, and combine that with predicting the path of the ball on a worn out cloth and uneven table surface in order to play some sort of CB control. In other words, it's better to use simple shots with little CB control requirement, more safeties and a patient style of playing. Even the best find it almost impossible to run out in such conditions, so don't feel bad about it. It's more like chess: you make a move, your opponent makes a move, and it goes on until one of you outsmarts the other. If you want me to get into details, I'd be very glad to help you. It's a great game once you learn all the tricks ;)

yes it prevented us from making a open break and running out, the orrect hreak is to hi 1/3 of the head ball and scratch, the balls dont oen up and the incoming player has to put the CB on the head spot, giving him a huge disadvantage, that rule and the big CB was the death of us. he said"wait until i break, you cant win". he was honest.

That's great, better luck next time. Just remember to play according to the limits of the equipment. They'll be watching for your mistakes once you try advanced position play or some crazy shots off a rail. The rails are inaccurate as hell, so do'tbe surprised if the shots don't go according to plan. Also, with no requirements to hit the rail and CB on headspot on scratch, they can play pretty much anything they want, and they can also scratch on purpose in order to block you. Be prepared for this and try to use these rules to your own advantage. Do your best to shoot your last OB in a pocket near the 8. And for God sake, don't choose the side pocket for your last pocket!

were playing regular 8ball on proper equipment, thats the deal. no more gaff rules, equipment, etc. this time it will be whats generally known as pool, not a trick game in a casino addict like the other night.

i swore off playing that game in 88 or 89 after going flat in modesto one night, i have not ever played it again until last night, same shit different decade, millennium for that matter, stone cold flat, dont have a dollar-well euro until i go to the bank, its 550am just got in.

Let it be said for the last time in my life, i swear i will never play another rack of that gaff game again. I know the old saying-dont play another mans game. I'm sick right now brutal

ol' fatboy got stuffed tonight,

Bigball coin op 8' table, another thing i swore off of,

i tilted out stone cold flat.

right now if someone quit me stuck,-lock me up,id do something real bad. wow i can't stand it.

Attn: haters, have at it boys.....

i gotto go puke

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I got a game that is like that for me and so far I have managed to stay away from it for over 15 years. Whenever the urge hits me I just remember the cue I lost and it passes!

"boy did i swallow the pill, i mite go blow the pope"-Fatboy <-----I almost put that in my sig!

the big cue ball was just brutal,

were going to play again, this week. we were going to play today, but things came up. later this week were playing again. i'll make a update on how it works out.

Yup I hate Big CB's Everything has yo be stop shot or follow, the cause the object balls to do funny things on cut shots, they react different coming off the rails and they flat out don't do what you want them to do EVER!

This is why I carry a spare cb in my case.

on top of that the OB's were all different weights so sometimes on the real light ones you couldnt even shoot a stop shot. there was 3 different 14 balls on the box. it wasnt bad luck, i thought we mite could out run it, it was fun-except the losing part.

that line i almost put in my sig line, i was so hot when i wrote it, when i'm pumped up i come up with the damnedest lines, thats why i was a good telemarketer. "blow the pope" LOL, that is too funny....where or how that came into my brain i'll never know. funny how my brain is wired like that.

I was in Germany '82 - '84........Zweibrucken AF Base. I played a lot of pool in K-town. I think Edgar Nickel (sp?) was the German Champ then.

DTL

There was a German champ?...LOL I played guys called the Professor and other names I can't remember. I think Tim Perkins was still over there at that time still. 8 ball/last pocket was all the Germans's played in Frankfurt. In oder to play them, I had to let them pick which side pocket was mine after the break:D

Sorry about the tuff loss. It's part of the pool ladder as U work ur way up from C player level. Good luck in ur journey.
