What I'm concluding based on what these guys are saying is this. The service provider they used for the stream wasn't up to snuff to handle the traffic, which caused all the lag. In response to the lag, viewers started hammering their refresh button over and over which then caused the website to crash.
That's my laymens understanding of it anyways.

I just got off the phone with Larry Nevel. This is what he told me.

Well, years from now when Bonus Ball has Pac-Manned all other forms of pocket billiards, we'll be sitting with our grand children telling them about the night the pro game was officially introduced to the world.

You kids have it lucky, in my day we had to refresh websites to make them work and we could crash a site with F5.
I was almost there at the launch of Bonus Ball with a 10fps iterant connection running on a 5mbps connection. You kids with your brain-powered internet don't have any clue how tough it was for us interfacing through devices back in the early part of the century.
Don't tell me about how your left lobe is a little laggy, we had packet data crashes and no real time updates....

EDIT:
Also, I'd like to make sure we aren't confusing the stream with the website. Those would most likely be two different service providers.

Correct, I read earlier in the thread that the streaming service was provided by AmazonStreaming.(I don't know if that is correct, so nobody shoot the messenger.) The website is hosted by somebody else, Inmotionhosting I believe.
I guess it doesn't really matter to me what caused all the problems,(other than curiousity) I'm more concerned with how it gets dealt with moving forward. I'm honest when I say I really do want to give these guys a fair shake before I form my opinion of the product. But man, did tonight sure leave them in a hole with me.
I want a tshirt that says "Contingency? Why?"
Show me one good bonus ball stream and I'll show you a guy that is going to be having a blast, gambling and sweating these matches all week, every week all year!
I'll also gamble and sweat all the TAR matches when they come around.
This could be huge for TAR. Bonus Ball will get a bunch of us addicted at gambling at pool and we will be ripe and ready to go for a nice change of pace with ten ball on TAR!
site is back up at least.
to bad the stats are not updated and if you are someone looking to find out who won tonight and the score, well FORGET ABOUT IT
