Actually, I am pro professional player, and if BB can provide an income to the pros, then I'm pro-BB.
I admire Nathan's innovativeness as well as Fast Lenny's enthusiasm. After all, they're the face of BB on AzBilliards.
That said, how dare BB schedule their event right on top of the Southern Classic, a tournament that's been in the books long before BB came to the pool scene.
What bothers me about it is this. As soon as BB discovers that their schedule interferes with Ultimate, they change their schedule, allowing the BB players to attend Ultimate in Tunica, but then they resume BB play the first day of the Southern Classic. :frown:
The Southern Classic is happening at the *EXACT SAME* venue, location, hotel as the Ultimate -- *AND* begins immediately followng the day Ultimate ends. It would make sense for the players to stay in Tunica and compete in both events, giving them a chance to save on travel expenses to and from Vegas and maybe cash in one of the events. As we know, Southern Classic has multiple events, several of which are tailored for the pros.
Why would BB accommodate Ultimate, after stepping on their schedule, and not accommodate Southern Classic? They could have easily done this. I mean, after all, by the looks of the stands on the BB set, nobody is flocking to their doors to watch this up front and close in Vegas, except the pro players and their girlfriends, like Jesse's kittykat. Looks like the info she's received thirdhand was wrong, poor gal. :embarrassed2:
Then there's Johnny Archer directing traffic, in the ear of Larry from Canada, and ordering the BB players to leave Tunica after Ultimate to return to Vegas. In other words, Johnny Archer is telling the BB players to diss Greg Sullivan, a man who's given these guys free entry, free room and board, put free money in their pocket for expenses for years, long before BB came to the fore.
The pro players are following Johnny Archer like trained little pigs to the BB stage in Vegas. Meanwhile, when BB implodes -- and we all know what its future holds -- Johnny will still have a roof over his head in Georgia, a stakehorse who will cough up dough and other niceties at Johnny's whim, sponsors who want to use Johnny's likeness on their products while he's still releveant, and a pool room to generate income.
The other BB pros who are following Johnny's direction will be left in the dust. Make no mistake about it here. Johnny is looking out for Johnny, not the future of professional pool, when he directs these BB players to not compete in the Southern Classic.
I blame Johnny Archer for this scheduling snafu. He could have stopped it, like he did for Ultimate, but he didn't. I know what it's like to help someone in this pool industry with my time and effort, only to be kicked in the teeth down the road. I haven't ever forgotten how I felt -- and how I still feel about it. Well, I'm sure this is what Greg Suillivan feels like, but it's more like a thousand-fold. After all he's done and then to have this happen. :
So, yes, Watchez, I am pro-BB. I want the players to have a normal income. I'm all for that, but not after learning how BB is handling their schedule changes, which, by the way, have been changed over and over and over again. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking with it.
