Congrats to Corteza who played Burford while Orcollo got a bye into final while also being undefeated. He went on to beat Burford then proceeded to beat Dennis twice in final.

Twice in the fina! Wow! First Lee Van Corteza wins China Open and now this. That's pretty strong in my book!

Welcome to America, Van-Van! :)

Move over "Robocop", there is a new gun in town..."The Slayer". Congrats to him on a big tournament and for slaying the field with pinpoint position and straight as an arrow shooting. Johnnyt

Who won the master of the table?

It was very impressive win by Corteza, He was up 7-0 on Burford and batting a 1000 at one point and finished the match at 976 I believe. To double dip Dennis in the finals thats speaks for its self.

Nice win and well deserved.

There must have been some whispering going on in the arena because Dennis and Alex showed up to watch (or at least they were shown on camera at this point ) when Lee Vann was up 6-0 and looking like he was going to run out the set. He rattled the 2 ball in the 8th game (robbed in my opinion) and ended his quest for the perfect set. I missed the first game of the set, so I'm not sure if he put on a 7 pack, but I seen the 6.

Ken Shuman compared his final score to bowling 5 - 300 games in bowling which I found to be a bit of a stretch, either way a great performance and I'm glad I was able to watch.

Cheers.

It must have been extremely exciting. Reminds me of a baseball pitcher going for a no-hitter. Wow!

He is a great player-he gambled with Kuo and beat him at QMasters back in 2006-7 or so. That was his 'coming out'. Prior to that he had been considered a third string Filipino by some Asian folks i spoke with. He has been in the USA for at least a couple of events every year since.

They just posted a news article about Lee's win on AzBilliards Main Page ---> HERE

Check out his arms. Holy Tattoos! :p

The guy in the front row looks a wee bit bored. :embarrassed2:

Corteza won the first game, but not by B&R; he played two safeties before getting a shot and running out the game. He broke and ran Games #2 through #7 (6-pack) and #10.

2010 US Open 10 Ball

Van also took home the 2010 US Open 10 Ball. I'm surprise he hasn't gotten a WPC yet.

I saw Lee Vann, in person, when he played in the Hanoi Open last year. He played Busty in the QF and was a bit light-hearted, the match was like a practice session. But both of them showed off their immense talents, no doubt Lee Vann is winning the lot this year.

one of my favorite.
