james, walden needing a stake or sponsor for u.s. open

If he's a money player and not a tournament player then it seems like you would need to travel with him and stake him in all things pool while there or you're just throwing away your money and enabling him to get there to gather his own. Also you will need to have a much bigger roll to put at risk than travel and entry fees.

It seems like the fact that this is the real James Walden posting IS the problem for this proposition to make sense.

If James is so good at action, can't he finance himself to go to any of these pool tournaments? Doesn't he have a manager or regular backer that will sponsor him? After so many years of ation, maybe they are all burned out??? Maybe he can repo his truck and sell it and use that money to stake himself.

Or maybe someone can start a James Walden sponsor drive/raffle for x amount per spot and split half of his winnings with the sponsors. That way no one will get hit with another girlfriend revenge happening. Maybe!!!

Your suggestions aren't very helpful. In fact, they seem to be bashsing James. But that is okay if that's your point and opinion, I guess.

The girlfriend coming on here, doing what she did, has indeed damaged him in the eyes of the regular readers of AzBilliards. I suggested to her that she should have James consider not posting on this forum again because of the bad press she created.

No matter how many of his friends and supporters do come to his defense on this thread and others, there will always be posts written by folks like you who have your opinons about James, maybe becuase of what his girlfriend did and maybe because you think pro players are bottom-feeders. I'm kind of used to reading it now, so it's not as offensive as it once was to me. :)

So the two of them are still together after this? Really? And someone is supposed to send some cash to that train wreck of a household? Unbelievable! Whether or not James is a stand up guy or not he's got problems if he is still hanging with that snag.

I don't know if they are together or not at the time of this writing, truth be told, but I agree with some of what you have written. :)

Plenty of money won from events have eventually found their way into his pockets over the years.

If I were a stakehorse I would not be deterred by the recent events here to send it in on James. He knows how to win.

James may know how to win but he doesn't know how to save it. For all of the money that he's won over the years, he's broke.

What drives you to think that I'm bashing James? Just obvious questions by me. If he is such a great action player like people say, then it should be easy for him to rake up enough to pay his own way. SIMPLE. And why is it not helpful to suggest that more than one person come to his aid so no one person gets burnt? I have not voiced a negative about James except he signs his name "James, Walden" which no matter what you think that I think of him, I find that very strange. But that is just trivial and doesn't matter, I guess. I would think that you, an expert in English, would have mentioned it yourself.

You sure like to get your dander up Jam, needlessly.

The funny thing is we all sent Cleary to the US Open 10ball, and James has zero chance of getting backed.

I think we'd rather back a guy who doesn't need to be backed just for fun (and know we're throwing our money away) than to back someone with baggage and not know if they'll make it to the event...which is like throwing our money away in chunks.

I've thought the same thing, and it is kind of ironic. :o

Read your post again. You suggested he should "repo his truck," "has burned out his backers," et cetera. I call that bashing, but you call it what you want.

I would call it "reality" once the rose colored glasses are removed from one's face.

There are a lot of broke men right now, from all walks of life, who have once had plenty of money. Life ain't always easy.

Doesn't do any good to state the obvious. I knew this would end up as another one of those pool player-bashing threads. It was only a matter of time. ;)

If you read this, James, don't bother posting on AzBilliards anymore. It's not a good environment for pro players.

Best to you always. Hope make it to the U.S. Open. :)

Well I did read that his girlfriend stole his truck. And can it be a reason that he doesn't have a backer or stakehorse that he normally uses?

From someone that does not know anyone involved. (thats me)

This is hard to believe that he would ask after what has happened just recently.

Does this guy know about all that?? And that seems like a silly question,,but Hmmm?? It makes no sense to come on here now and ask this,,,and then he does not respond to anything in 3 pages now. It's all just too strange.

I can see how he does not know computers. I was in the same boat a few years ago. But it's not that hard to learn. If you are going to ask for money. WTF?? watch your post and respond to it!!

The guy might be legit and a great person to back,,but he needs to come on here and respond about himself. Right now,,I picture a rather "slow" person(and that is being nice) ,,on drugs, with a brutal /crazy GF ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and asking for money!!! lol

I can't blame anyone for bashing him at this point. If he types with one finger,,,then he needs to get busy typing to let people know what is going on. I believe that is a huge part of his problem.

I've only been here on az for a little while but my god these threads seem to be magnets for people who don't like the "pool world"

Like it or not pool (at least in the U.S.) is connected to gambling. Hell connected might be an understatement considering gambling is a very big part of pool.

A player asks if anyone is interested in backing them and everyone goes nuts. Is it that outlandish for someone who actually lives in the world of pool to come to a site that is supposed to be a pool enthusiast site and ask if anyone is interested in backing them?

The player is just asking if you want to gamble with them, they aren't demanding it or begging they are just asking in a place where one would think interested parties would reside.

Even tho this whole Furiousintexas thread was a so-called fake, it proves how easy somebody could get screwed out of cash very easy.
After the recent events surrounding this guy would make anyone think twice,,,,Anybody that forks over any cash to back this guy after what has just happened, needs a check-up from the neck-up

Jam you seem to be the loudest voice in this thread defending him that he is SUCH a good risk, then maybe you should back him yourself, since you feel that AZB is sooooooooo anti-pro pool players

With all that has happened,I thought this was going to be a joke thread,
coming to realize that its serious.I don't know if anybody got the same feeling
as I have but I'm thinking that all that another drama was a pre-cursor for
asking for backing later on.
Seeing this,I believe they all knew what was going on and was hoping on heavy
hearts to put there money out now, knowing there are many sympathetic people
here on AZ that won't look beyond there arm to see the bigger picture.
I may be wrong but got that uneasy feeling the moment I seen the thread..
