Well i didnt understand what you were saying BUT getting the cue ball where you did was the overly amazing part to me

I understand that if got the rest of the 'secrets' i would understand what you were saying-at least i would hope so.

Yes, I coordinate all the diamond distances to the tip target on the cue ball. This is not that difficult, but it took me 43 chapters to explain and set up an example of every shot.

Here's another one that many players have never seen. I saw Bugs pull this one off in Detroit at the RACK....it amazed me, but now I know the secret ;)

I set this shot up all the time and ask ppl what they would do..ha ha I have yet to have one shoot it with inside..they all use outside..simple safe shot when executed properly..First one of your videos I watched..looks professional..keep it up..David Parker

this Bank is from the "Chicago Bugs" collection.

It's amazing how thinly you can cut a ball using inside instead of outside english. It makes sense really, with outside the cue ball is deflecting into the object ball and with inside it's deflecting AWAY from the object ball....which naturally encourages more of a "cut".

This Bank is from the "Chicago Bugs" collection. If I hadn't seen him do it I would never have thought it was possible...Vernon Elliot could make these type banks too, he knew the power of the Inside Touch.

Bank Shot

I set this up tonight at the pool hall and got close. It was really interesting but I think I focused too much on where the cue ball was going to go and not enough on how I was getting there.

Truman didn't come in while I was there or I was going to ask him what he thought. It's interesting to get a take from a hall of fame player.

once you get your contact pure it will solve the problem

Just focus on hitting the cue ball in a precise spot to generate the movement you want. At this point in your pre shot routine this is all you should be thinking "precise contact".....is you're thinking about other things it's due to a flaw in your pre shot routine. Believe me, we all do this at times, however, once you get your contact pure it will solve the problem.

Truman's certainly a champion and knows how to hold and twist those banks from any angle.

Click my signature to see one that Bugs was shooting in Detroit...I made some money using this shot as a proposition bet - I would bet to make the bank and not hit the end rail.

I just showed someone this shot a few weeks ago. Funny that one of the old guys said it was a go broke shot so I had to shoot it a dozen times from different locations before they finally said .... well maybe not for you I guess. I agree, once you get your contact point and hit it with a normal stroke it is a nice shot. Bad things only seem to happen if you don't hit it with a normal stroke. If you try to kill it or something else the results will usually be really bad.

This allows the player to maximize their touch and feel for the game.

Yes, that's why I show the drill using just one pool ball at a time. The object ball gets in our heads and takes up a percentage of our focus. There's a big difference between a 60% focus on the cue ball's target, stroke and alignment. I suggest aligning/aiming while you are above the shot so they can "lock in" to the cue ball more and give it up to 80% of the focus.

This allows the player to maximize their touch and feel for the game. I believe some players struggle because they are "looking" for the visual secret to pool and it simply doesn't exist. Pool, at the highest level is much more about feeling than seeing. I've described it as "feeling with my eyes" when in "dead stroke"......I'm sure many of you have had a similar experience.

Above the shot it's ok to be 50/50(%) between object ball and cue ball to establish the connection needed to make the shot or safety. I'm also about 80% visual ABOVE the cue ball and by the time I play the shot I'm 80% Kinesthetic (processing feel/touch) and 20% Visual. My goal is to feel the cue ball with my hand, as if the pool cue is part of my body.

Remember, we all have 100% of focus and attention {to detail}, however, the "trick" is to know how to balance this 100% to create more, and this is done by concentrating on what's needed most, committing to it, then freeing your mind to focus completely on creating the end result. CJ,

This is a great shot and one I have shot many times.

Almost always when you need to cut a bank backwards, Inside is the key.
Thinner hit and better control of the cue ball.

Keep up the good work.

Nice shot! Just got the dvd today, haven't watched it yet but am looking forward to it this week. Thanks for the super fast delivery!

Absolutely Love both of these shots CJ!

I just set up each shot and made each one in under 15 minutes for each shot.

I really appreciate your putting these up on AZ and I'm happy to have found them.

I made these shots on my home table which is a 9 foot with 4 inch pockets customized by Oscar and Ernesto Dominguez.

Very thrilling to set up and make each one, thanks CJ!

Yes, Bill, it seems to be the "missing link" and {lack of inside knowledge} holds back many players from progressing to a fully artillery of shots. Especially in one pocket "Inside English" is a real weapon, and opens up a whole new dimension in shot making, including Banks and safeties.
