Rip-off Report on Glen, The Real King Cobra "UPDATE"

You're welcome to your opinion and to use anybody you wish to work on your table. I had a local mechanic set up my Diamond and he did a great job without all the drama and delay RKC seems to bring to the party.

Had RKC simply come on here the first time, admitted he really screwed up, apologized and committed to fixing things (and actually doing that) without all the nasty attitude stuff, I'd never comment on him. Given his incredibly arrogant, pompous attitude, he practically begged for all the negative comments coming his way. You'd think the guy was the world's great heart surgeon, not a freaking pool table mechanic.

Hey if I was buying a new Diamond I'd be happy with any set-up available too. I like old Brunswick tables and the best I've seen at those rebuilds is RKC and maybe Mark Gregory. Mark carries the bonus of also doing some flawless-looking refinish work, but the logistics of dealing with him baffle me. I find Glen's attitude amusing, but that's just me. What's equally amusing (again to me) is how outraged people get over it, but then, AZ seems loaded (for some reason) with guys just searching for things to get outraged by.

Gosh, I wonder why that is?

And if I may, I really don't think RKC's attitude comes from him thinking he's a a heart surgeon or an Obstetrics Dr, but I do think (rightly or wrongly) he does think he's the world's best table mechanic, and he might be right. If you were the world's best table mechanic, and had no attitude and a firm timetable and weren't a zillion bucks and could work out in LA, I'd hire you in a second.

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin, I own a Construction Business with offices in 3 states. We have been quite successful and have done it by focusing on Customer Service. That is reflected with our flawless record with the BBB and Angie's LIst Super Service Awards. Unlike most General Contractors, we do what we say we're going to do when we say we're going to do it.

Now I'm not here trying to sell you something but rather, to put this into perspective. We are extremely good at what we do. However, I nor anyone else in the company ever takes the attitude RKC does. If one of our people made comments similar to RKC's in the previous thread, they would be terminated in seconds. The average job size we take on would buy 2 or 3 Diamond Tables so forgive me if I'm not that impressed with his stature of Premier Table Mechanic.

Great Customer Service, good communications and prompt follow up are simply personal pet peeves of mine. That's why this RKC guy's attitude bothers me so much. I'm certainly not losing any sleep over it and for sure, nobody died, so not that big of a deal. If it took a truly big deal to get 50 posts on a thread however, this site couldn't sustain itself. LOL

Yeah I'm real big on customer service too and I'm also in the business of delivering on promises.

I just thought and still think it was a stretch to refer to RKC's actions as a "rip-off". And if that was unfair, which it was (even the OP apologized for it), RKC's lack of remorse, or his attitude (which is legendary), doesn't change that. RKC either ripped the OP off or he didn't, his piousness or lack of it has no bearing (outside of rankling the AZ lynch mob).

Thanks

Kevin

I do but the system says I have to spread the hate first :D

Please don't red rep me again!

I've reviewed our posts and I've decided I was wrong and I see it exactly the way you see it it. I've seen the light. I've seen the error of my ways.

Thanks for taking the time to show me how to think and sorry I was too dumb to see it properly before.

"Man tries to get free table rather than wait for perfect rails"

I think this thread would be more credible if the highroller would post a copy of the original agreement. I'm guessing it doesn't exist. Other words, his word against yours.

This is how it seems to me:

1. OP contacts RKC to do his rails on his table that he got a deal on.
2. Glen offers to do it within the budget but he will have to work it in. (Which means it could take a while)
3. OP starts getting antsy after a few months and thinks a negative publicity thread on AZ will get things moving.
4. Glen sees thread and goes off on OP.
5. Diamond was supposed to ship rails back before Tunica but they didn't and can't till this Monday July 8, when they return to the plant.
6. OP nows thinks he can get Glen to return his money(done), return the rails (prolly happen Monday) AND make Glen pay for his table too.....OR ELSE.

and Glen is the bad guy? Good luck with this one.

Why do people think that because someone is a Master at something that they are automatically good at other things like customer relations? Glen is a pool table savant. He's so good you will never know till you have played on one of his tables.

Does this make him good at everything? Not even close. I CAN tell you this though, Glen cares deeply about making a difference in the game through perfect equipment. He's the real deal. If you have no patience you have no business getting involved with Glen. If you DO have patience you will be one of the elite group of happy pool players that own a RKC table.

Its trial by forum. Works great there's always plenty of folks here willing to jump on any negative bandwagon.

So you think it's okay that the guy has gone 5 months without a pool table?
Just asking

You could of saved yourself a lot of typing there. So simply put glen is a great table mechanic and you can't expect him to keep his word. So patiently stare at your railess table and shut the hell up.

Great thanks for clearing it up.

I'm wandering how patient you all would be if your table was sitting railess in your home and the guy who has them not only didnt complete them in the time promised and now wont take the time to ship them back to you or even call back to diamond and ask someone there to do it. I would think not very.

You guys realize that this table the OP has lost the use of was sitting in his garage broken down when RKC took the rails right? You get the fact that the OP never had use of this table right? (Unless JC knows different, in which case I take it all back in red rep fear and submission).

That sounds like the -$1,000 answer to me :)

So you think it's okay that the guy has gone 5 months without a pool table?
Just asking

Yes I do, If the agreement was as I outlined.

We won't know unless we know what was agreed upon in the beginning. So unless you were part of the conversation or highroller/Glen posts the agreement, WE won't know what was agreed on. Just rants from upset people on both sides. Highroller and Glen.

On a wholly unrelated topic.

Does anybody have an idea why the top industry craftsmen don't post on AZ Billiards as a general rule. I mean it seems like a natural fit, the guys that make the items connecting directly with the guys that use them?

Same question regarding the top pro players? Again, seems like a natural fit and a way for players to stay in touch with and generate fan base.

Or maybe a lot of these guys are posting here and I just haven't noticed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Kevin

Maybe because they F over someone?

Maybe because they F over someone?

I'm sure that's it.

OK. I didn't mean to derail this important thread revealing RKC as a thief. Notwithstanding the money has been returned (the OP said that would be good enough for him, but its certainly not good enough for us), the rails and castings will be returned, and the table the OP lost the use of had never been assembled.

RIP OFF ALERT.

Glen is bad. If you have need for a table mechanic to drive 1000 miles to where you are, set up shop in your driveway, tear your table down and rebuild it flawlessly to higher and more modern specs than factory original, all while sleeping in his truck, don't call RKC. He has attitude and poor time management. For sure call someone else from the huge list of guys that will do this for you.

Go back and read the original thread lol it's no big mystery. Rkc admitted all the details of what was promised.

What time frame did RKC promise? I sort of remembered it the way Bigtruck said, that he would work it in as he could and then he caught some other jobs?

Thanks
