We used to have large dumpsters in our alley and shared them. Now, we have individual plastic cans that don't hold much. My neighbors across the alley just pile their crap beside their garage. One of the guys in the house is a drummer. I noticed that he threw out a Hi Hat stand. If the cymbals aren't attached to the top, it leaves a slender spindle
that a roll of linen will fit on perfectly.

So, its basically a tri pod with folding legs. I can set the stand beside me and drop the roll of linen on the spindle.

I made a linen tub that works great but this is way cooler, and free.

Didn't even have to dive into a dumpster this time.

This is what it looks like only the one I got has a large washer on the bottom that will support the roll perfectly. I just have to lose the pedal on it.

Must be the little bit of Scottish in me. I just hate to see things go to waste. I look at things and think, Hmmm, what can I use this for. My wife hates me for it. But sometimes, it works out just fine. I set it on the patio. My wife asks me what that is. I tell her and she just shakes her head.

She just doesn't understand a man and his tools and lathes. Sad it is.

I think you should somehow incorporate the foot pedal into the control for the wrap motor. :D

trash finds

i was helping my buddy run his small pool hall, [ pay was 3 cents an hr and free pool ] a ah missed a shot and slammed his pool cue on the table, and it snapped in half. he was really cool just picked it up and stuffed it in the trash can, payed his tab and left.
i'm cleaning up that night and as i was emptying the trash can, i looked at it and the butt was perfect, the shaft had broke just before the joint. at that time you could get a pretty good shaft got $14.00. i played for years with my trash can cue !!!!!!!!

Ok....Ok.....Ok...... None of the electronics then. Just simply hook it up like one of the old timey sewing machines where you have to pump the foot pedal to make it work. No electronics.... human powered. :p
 
My late wife used to hate shopping with me at Home Depot or almost any other store, because almost everything I saw I would study it a second and try to figure out how I could use it in my cue making operation. Tripods became house cue steady rests, t-brackets became power feed motor holders. Saw blades and bearings became a foot operated Irish linen feed roller. Oak boards and a spacer became linen presses. Angle aluminum became a fixture for gluing up mitered veneers and on and on.

Lee, a friend of mine, I think Chris would recognize his name got a hold of an old sewing machine. He used the tensioner from it and rigged it up for his linen roll.

I haven't been over to see it yet. I always thought that a piece of rubber tubing and your hand made the best tensioner but he obviously made it work

I would guess that he is using it more for a thread guide than an actual tensioner.

For my tub, which I got the idea from Cue Jo, I used a small rubber maid tub. I purloined (borrowed) some oxygen tubing from work, drilled a hole in the top of the tub. part of the breathing apparatus has a hard piece of plastic on one end that is used to join to a tank. That hard piece fits perfectly in the hole and I left enuff tubing so I can manipulate the linen with my right hand.

Seems to be fairly tuff and hasn't worn the rubber out yet. I left it long enuff that when it wears a bit, I can snip a bit off the end and keep using it.

Lots of free tubing in the garbage at work but I don't want anything thats been up someones nose. I catch enuff diseases at work as it is. Just kidding. I wouldn't even think of it.

Chris, I know the shopping experience. If I ask my wife to come with me to run a few errands, she will ask where we are going. If I mention, Canadian Tire, she declines as she knows that I am a kid at Christmas time when I walk in. I have to touch everything. Same with the Dollar store. She knows that I am good for an hour in there.

shaft drive electric start , v twin:eek:
less then 7000 miles.
batteries not included .

A shaft drive will have less vibration than a chain drive.

Probably make a great shaft spinner motor. It wouldn't take long to re taper a shaft at 200 MPH.

105 is plenty fast enough, I just wasn't much on putting rev limiters on .
The owner always complained about the engine cutting out at 105
But in the bike world 105mph is cutting the engine back .

The person who owned this bike was killed on it at 30mph ,

He was a hell of pool player, you would of liked him.
