The jump cue thing has been asked a lot so have the aiming questions. Shot clocks not as much.

Thank you very much for putting this up. I saw all the pods I think but at 72 I forget things quickly. If you could make those three things standard question as well as a few more I think it would be interesting to all viewers. Johnnyt
I feel like it's high-time for a consensus on pocket sizes. If EVER the pros could unite in to one association, I'd like them to vote on pocket size, and literally refuse to play at any venue unless they conformed to the standard. I'd imagine as a result, Jr. players and league players would suddenly feel a greater desire (like the measle) to use the things they use.... which might for once compel some uniformity across the board.
I'd love a standard too. I think there are some hurdles though.
People are wildly split on whether tight pockets are good or bad for pool and how to define a tight pocket.
So just deciding the size is a problem.
Then you have basically 2 companies making the tables most events use, brunswick and diamond.
One of them is going to be stuck adjusting all of their pockets to the new standard.
Then even if you get the size agreed upon and the manufacturers behind it, pool halls everywhere
will be stuck with nonstandard equipment. Those junior players might notice and complain,
but no way is a pool hall looking at spending thousands to redo all their pockets.
I wouldn't be heartbroken if the whole world just embraced a basic diamond as the gold standard.
It's already part of a lot of events, both as a sponsor and as the preferred equipment..
while apparently brunswick has contracted a bad case of "What have you done for me lately".
The result is that there would be less pro tournaments. No one stands to benefit from pool tournaments as much as the players, there will not be much demanding of equipment standards from them unless it's in a place that is setup only for a tournament in casinos and such. In those cases the pocket size and tables are pretty standardized. Most room owners would not change the color of the glasses if the pros asked them to much less spend thousands to make their tables conform to a rule. Right now due to the Diamond company, the de facto "good" pocket size is 4.5" for standard play and the rails and the Diamond tables are what everyone wants to play on.
Bit off topic though, I do know that just about every player they spoke to was against jump cues, almost no one used a real aiming system (especially the Philipinos), and don't think anyone complained about a shot clock that I have heard of.
