Buy a shaft or buy a cue?

Need a little advice here. Just recently bought a table for the first time, which gives me much more time to play and practice. I've also got about 20 low priced cues, which shoot well, but I do not have an LD shaft. I bought a Universal smart shaft some time ago off ebay, but I really can't tell any difference as far as squirt goes on my playing cue. I want to improve, but I think I've gotten as far as possible without upgrading either a cue or shaft. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Get the best on the market.

The Jacoby Hybrid Edge gives you the best of both worlds.

Pretty good low deflection but still just enough to allow you to do the things you can do with a conventional maple shaft.

Learn to shoot with this shaft on your cue and you have a winner.

Coming from someone that has done the homework.

I've played with most of them................

Good Luck............

same advise for each thread

what is this twin threads?
Last time I had twins was 1962, there I was tied to the bed post covered in motor oil.
wrong forum.

same answer as the other same thread .
Not a LD fan ,
I would try a better production cue or custom.
everyone is different,
One option is to buy the right hi end custom cue, Use one shaft leave the other shaft as new,
take good care of the cue, and 30 years later sale it for a mint .

Bottom line is you get paid for using a nice cue.
But God forbid that anyone would listen to such rubbish.

I went through an LD phase for a little bit, because I had been convinced that it would better my game. While they do have their benefits, they also have their drawbacks. I'd suggest trying somebody's for a bit. If you can afford it, I'd say go ahead and get one. Be prepared to have your game screwed up a little at first, though. After 4 or 5 years, I left mine behind and moved forward with what I felt most comfortable with/what I was most consistently good with.. it certainly didn't mean being more expensive than what I already owned.

You need to find a dealer with lots of pool cues and a pool table. Then spend a couple hours trying out different pool cues and pick out the one you like.

If you live in PA, then I'd be the poolguy4u.

Thanks for the help! The reason for the twin posts is that I tried to correct an error on the first post, and viola! Twin posts. Sorry about that. I have never really played with a ld shaft, but so many play and swear by them, it was my guess that without giving them a shot, I'd never know if they would help or not. I believe I will give that Jacoby edge a shot. Sounds like the best of both worlds. Once again, I appreciate the help.

Shane can still beat the world with a crooked bar cue.

I will concede that a better cue does make a little difference, but I believe a "tailored" cue would do far more. Meaning that a cue with the taper, tip, weight, butt diameter, you prefer. Even that will only go so far. There's an old boy around here that plays with this beat to hell, old, junk, Mc Dermott, and he runs rack after rack. I've had Keith beat the snot out of me with a cue that literally had a 1/2" lift from the table when rolled, and a flat tip.

I get that you want a better cue, but don't get it thinking it will make you a better player. Pool is a head game. Practice is the ONLY thing that will make you noticeably better. I love my expensive cue, I love playing with it. But I can play just as good with a lesser cue, it's simply there as a point of pride and taste.

BTW, LD shafts are OK, but they won't aim the shot for you and it dang sure improve your stroke.

Good luck with what ever you decide, just keep in mind you don't have to spend money on gear to improve your game. GOOD LUCK!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
