Who the f**k is Ko Pin-Yi?

So my question again is did Ko Pin Yi accept Shane's 20k challenge or not? Now more than ever I want to see these two match up. I will spend $50 on the PPV for an old school race to 100.

That'd be nice, except 20k is worth a lot more to Ko than SVB. Unless he has a backer he would be in a disadvantage.

Well from what Justin posted he has had a month to respond to it and I would guess that he wasn't able to arrange for a backer.

Although I am sure Shane would play for less.

No matter the amount of money, a match between these two players would be interesting to watch. Because of the level of play, I would like to see them play on tight pockets to really bring out all the aspects of their games.

This is the Kid!

So to all of you guys not being sure about the speed this kid plays.....

Carlio Biado, who just won the 10-Ball tournament with a super tough field at Hard Times was DESTROYED 9-0 by Ko Pin-Yi....

I'm really looking forward to how the US Open continues...so many top players already on the one-loss side already...oh btw Lee van also wins 9-0 against Mike Dechaine...pretty strong...

My favourites to win the whole thing are Ko, Wu and Orcullo....what do you guys think?

This is the Kid when he played Earl. Earl had him down 6-2 to climb back and win a double hill of 9-8 when Earl got to the hill first... Carlo Biado jokingly said he tried to get him, Wang Can and their crew deported!

If anyone cant see my pics as I have been having problems posting pics here - send me your email so I can send the files to you and repost it here. It's weird some see it some cant!

Wasn't he the pilot of Asiana flight 214?

(Oh, no. That was Captain Sum Ting Wong.)

That one was not bad

Did someone say the little brother has already run like a 9-pack?!
He seems to have copied his brother's hair and his break in that all-japan video.
We may see them face each other in a finals someday.

His little brother is also a monster already...

The Ko brothers also played together in the World Cup of Pool in 2011 finshing 3rd place...in the quarters they did beat Team Philippines A (Alcano/Orcullo) which is quite impressive...Especially regarding their age...Pin-Yi was around 20 and Ping-Chung wasn't even 16 years old at that time...

The pool world can only hope there are no more siblings

With a number of players from Taiwan and China here for this event, and the posts about how strong they are, I went back and looked at the brackets to check on how they are doing. For some reason, I can't see the top of the bracket where Wu played, but I know he had to win at least 4 matches to be where he is now. So, counting that, it appears team China is currently 8-3 in this event.
As for team Taiwan, again not knowing about the top of the bracket, it appears they are 12-5. In both cases, not too shabby. Hopefully, I didn't overlook anything, so this may be an approximation, so take it for what it is worth.

i watched him during the China Open this year, he's really good! it was a match between him and Johan Chua (from PI), hill-hill and a really good match. Ko won.

I remember he beat orcullo in a race to 15 on the guiness tour a few years ago and was down 14-4 I believe in the finals and he broke and ran out the set from there beating orcullo 15-14 that's pretty amazing stuff. id say he lays jam up

and Cory but Mika 11-0. Shut out happen, yea the guy plays strong but this seem to be another case (building) of "the greatest player in the world" thing cause someone made the radar.

Not at all. You misunderstood me...I just wanted to make sure anybody knows the speed Ko can play because obviously like talked about in some other threads many US players do not know those asian kids...

I just thought that this result against Biado is a good example to get an idea of how he can play...

Of course he is not "the greatest player in the world" I just wanted to make sure everybody understands that he is up there with all the other "greatest players in the world" ;)

Oh and someone referred to the final of the Guiness Tour when he beat Orcullo in the final being down 14-4...he didn't ran out...in fact Orcullo camt back to the table once...but he was snookered and made a foul...but closing the match in two innings isn't too shabby either ;-)

Wu had a pretty soft draw in this field.

First round: Bye
Second Round: Danny Olson
Third Round: Shaun Wilkie
Fourth Round: Santos Sambajon

Nothing against any of those guys but in a field this stacked thats not as tough as it could of been. Rodney will be his first big test I think. If he gets through that he gets winner of Ko/Lee Vann in the hot seat match.

Ko pin played in Pro Event at BCA in Riviera around 3 years ago. Darren Appleton beat him. Darren beat him again in one of the International events in one of the Far East countries. He is NOT a new kid on the Block.

thats rite it iant his first rodeo in Vegas

As much as peoole spend time on az i find it funny that people didnt know he was in last yrs us open 9 ball. He didnt do too well.

Meanwhile another "who the f*ck is this guy?!" asian, Dang Jinhu, got BIH from Jayson Shaw early in their 4th rack,
ran out, then broke'n'ran another 4 racks... here's another guy with Shane-like breaks where he occasionally
makes both 2nd row balls + the four railer.

They probably have started to teach that break in high school clubs in China
and we'll see 37 guys hitting it better than shane next year.

Only a ball blocking his view of the 1 has ended the package, and Jayson has
been forced to kick in this current rack. I think they're on a break now. This may end up being
a 9-1 thrashing.

This is Dang Jinhu who dispatch our Shane to the Loser Side.
