Hi everyone

2 of my mates and myself hope to come out to Vegas later in the year for one of the big open events. We are from Australia. We aren't professionals or anything like that but we are all pretty decent cueists. We do mainly play snooker and english pool and some american pool. It is not going to be worth us bringing cues all the way from Australia. We want to be able to rent some decent cues locally in Vegas. something of the quality most members here would use in tournaments. Any suggestions where we will be able to rent cues in Vegas ?

Thanks

Interesting concept ... You can rent a Harley, a Ferrari and, certainly, you can rent Girls ( or Boys ... Yuk !!!).
Vegas is THE place where "Dreams (can) Come True", so why not offer High-end Cues for rent ?

I do not have the answer.

I do not believe such a place exists to rent cues in Vegas or anywhere, for that matter.

Nice idea But Not Very Feasible

I don't which countries you may have played pool or billiards but here in the USA, that fairy tale hasn't quite blossomed into fruition as of yet. But you might want to be the first one to cash in on this somewhat zany but I'm sure nonetheless rock solid idea for a business......you know, do that entrepreneurial thing and be sure to report back to us how things work out. But in the meantime, make sure to haul your cues to Vegas or plan on trying to buy something you like. After all, it is Vegas and as long as you willing to pay the highest going rate, and perhaps get a few bucks off too, you may be able to buy something.

So do you think you'll be packing your cue in your luggage or hand carrying it with you. Regardless of what others may tell you, be wary of bringing pool cues with ivory though U.S. Customs because there are very stringent restrictions about ivory or artifacts containing ivory. There's lots of information on AZ Forum about this and do your own Internet search. This is serious shit and anyone that tells you differently by sharing some anecdotal experience that they didn't experience any problems has been plain ass lucky. Unless you're willing to lose your cue, don't bring it into the USA if it has ivory......plain & simple.

If you contact Michael Hoang, Omega Billiards, he might be interested in renting cues to you. He is a vendor at every Vegas event and often has some used cues for sale. Otherwise there will be hundreds of cues for sale at less than $100 which you will probably find play fine for the time you are going to use them. Buy one and invest in a good tip and then at the end you can easily sell them for at least half what you paid.

To OP ... how much an hour, a day or a week seems fair and what kind of deposit are you willing to leave for "good" cue that retailsl in the $300 to $800 price range?

Just hit a pawn shop, buy a cue, and when you're ready to head home, go sell it back to them.

If you are going to go the pawn shop route check if they will rent it to you with a deposit first otherwise they might offer 1/4 of what you paid to buy it back.

Exactly.
and the difference is the rental fee for the week.
$120.00 cue - $30.00 buyback = $90 rental
Sounds reasonable.
