IPT Promises

Were you at a different player's meeting than I? You're not even close to what Kevin said. He SAID everyone would get paid on Sunday morning, the 30th between 11am and noon.

Grady, who are you replying to?

Gabber,

Your credit must be spotless, What does my credit have to do with the IPT[ KT] NOT keeping their promises? and never make a mistake.
I think you have been sniffing too many farts.

* Like Kevin T said before. The IPT is in its Infancy stage and there will be some changes along the way to get this tournament where it needs to be and I think it is unfair for everyone to keep bashing the IPT when some changes are made they will get the kinks out.

* Remember in 2007 the players will be garneted 100K in earnings even if they never win a game. I don’t see any other pool tour making that deal with the players.

* Most of the bashing on this forum is coming from people who will never play good enough to be an IPT member so what’s the problem?

* I will never play at that level so I am stuck being a spectator. I will just sit back and enjoy the action because in my 15 years in the pool business I have never seen Money Action Like this.

* Do you think the PGA went of without some changes, I doubt it.

* I only hoped they would broadcast there show on FOX SPORTS, ESPN or NESN that’s more mainstream for the United States.

* Lets See what the 2007 season brings, and remember Kevin did not force players to join so if there not happy they can give up there Tour Card and go back to playing in the Little League!

* As for the bad ref calls that hapens in every sport for years and its harder to be a ref now than ever before. Everyone has a better View that the ref with all the cams so its easy to sit back and say BAD CALL but there only Human.
(Mabe all sports should use the cam view and two way radios to make the call and that would keep people from making a mistake that could change the outcome of the Event)

* Great Job KT and all the IPT staff.

Are you willing to publish the IPT contract that guaratees $100, 000 for an IPT place?

Gabber......if so............I,m interested.

Because by your reasoning you will never miss a payment because you will have the checks made out ahead of time and ready when it's time to pay. Can you see the connection now?

And what does BFM mean, I seached and couldn't find anything that it could stand for. <---illiterate

Just a side note........ not to say that I agree with him or don't agree with him. Just not quite sure that I feel comfortable chatting with a "Fart Sniffer"....;)

If your an IPT member you should just Quit and Give up your tour card and if your not by now then you have nothing to worry about.

He specifically mentioned 9 months as far as dealing with convention space, nothing to do with payouts. Don't put words into the guy's mouth.

And having done some convention work myself in the past, including running a couple of small ones (sci-fi cons, but still!), I can say that dealing with venues can be a royal PITA. They're out to screw you whenever you blink. They will tell you one thing, and put something else in the contract. They will change things on you at the last minute, knowing that your event is on the line, and that you'll take it (and pay the extra) rather than bag your entire event.

Typically when it comes to venue space and filling hotel rooms, venues will give breaks on the cost of the venue space based on the number of hotel rooms booked associated with your event. Depending on how many rooms get booked, sometimes the venue space can be had for nothing. I never experienced a hotel kicking back cash to the event producer via jacking up the room rates - if anything, I got discounts on the room rates (nothing much) for my attendees.

And for a very convention-centric venue such as the Venitian, I can see their schedule being booked up months in advance (hence, we return to the beginning of my post).

A pool tounament is not a convention. How much did you win at your last convention?

The only thing that interests players in the IPT is the prize money. When KT goes on internet[ for months] saying he will pay after every round, he should keep his word, because some cash-stapped players might be relying on it to pay their hotel bill!
He could have paid but he didn't, why?

All checks could have been written out months ago with only the name to be filled in. A kid with a typewriter could have done it on the day at minimum wage!!

I never claimed the IPT event *was* a convention. Note I said "convention SPACE".

So far, you've misread another fellow's post, and you've misread my post. You're not shooting so well today. Take a moment, and a breath, and try re-reading people's posts before you fling out badly-thought-out replies.

I guess I missed it, when did everyone receive their checks?

From an earlier post: "The Referral money was paid to the players upon getting their first official scorecard of the tournament, contingent on the player having filled out the correct paperwork.

The money earned by IPT pros for Qualifier Challenge Match wins ($1,000 for each win - for NO entry fee)..... was paid to the players on-site on Wednesday.

At the KOH tournament all players were paid at the same time... presented with their checks and having their photos taken at the same time. I assume that either KT misspoke "end of each round" for "end of each tournament" or that they ran into logistical problems for paying at the end of each round. I do know that the Venetian was not going to cash all of the checks anyway as we were given the names of two banks locally in LV that would cash them."

The checks from the actual NA Open tournament were handed out, in person, between 11AM and noon on Sunday, just prior to the finals. Everyone still in attendance received theirs and those who were not, are being mailed their checks.

If you are making a deal with a hotel for 200 players who can be knocked out anytime, surely the main part of the deal should be that they can check out without paying penalty.

To me its no big deal but the subject of this thread was that KT promised to pay on time and he didn't. Thats a fact.

Gabber:confused:

I'm confused about people saying it cost more for a room if you booked the IPT special rate. I was booking on the Venetian website and it was $199/night but then I found the IPT special for $179/night and changed to that. If you look on the Venetian website they don't offer any rooms under $199 normally. The $179/night rate the IPT got was also for the Venezia Bella suites which are normally $249/night and have 2 queen size beds. If you wanted you could book the single king bed suite for $179 but it was only $199 normally.

Whoever got a room for $129 must of been a member of their players club or something to get that kind of rate. Please explain so I can book a cheaper rate at future events!

Gabber,

Your credit must be spotless, by your thinking the checks for you water, gas, electric, phone, car payments and house payments have already been written for the next 20 years. That's good thinking, hopefully I can adopt this method and never make a mistake.

That is some twisted logic. It was one event with known pay-outs.

and BTW-My checks for the above are all ready for the next THOUSAND years. Paid automatically online with high guestimates. If i wind up with too much credit in an account, then i go online and adjust the payments.

When im dead they will still go on til someone spots them.

Some people are just not happy unless they find a way to bash the IPT. Why can't they just see that the positives far outweight the negatives or adjustments/changes? Look, I'll be the first one to condemn the IPT if they do something dirty or slimy - so far they haven't.

My question still stands. Why do a bunch of internet people have such a concern over the payment of the players when it is really only the concern of the players? We have some players right here in this forum, right here in this thread that are VERY HAPPY and pleased with everything the IPT has done and is doing.

If they're happy - you should be happy. The players don't need internet lawyers to attack the IPT or KT's every syllable on their behalf....

If KT went back on his promise to pay after every round just to make some extra kick-back money from the rooms, wouldn't that be a little sneakey or slimy? Would that be helping pool players or exploiting them?

A poster makes a valid complaint and you guys jump in as apologistes for the IPT providing [ imaginary] excuses for what happened.
Why should you care anyway? Are you a player?;)
Now we get the 'be thankful' crap which has NOTHING to do with the subject of the thread.

Did KT 'mis-speak'?.............. Hardly.
Were they too busy? ...........Thats laughable.

When players put up $1,500 to play a tourny and the promoter says they will be paid after every round, then a deal has been made. KT went back on the deal. That,s all.

That's it folks. KT is a lying dirtbag and the IPT sucks! Boycott the IPT, don't give them a dime and pray for their failure!

You heard it here first. KT has went back on the "deal"...IPT's and KT's credibility is destroyed. We should all make an effort to inform all the touring pros and qualifiers of the IPT to immediately disassociate themselves with the IPT because this sort of treatment just isn't worth the $30,000 for 18th place. It's for their own good.

For the rest of us. We'll form a website. We'll call it www.IPT-watch.com where we can condemn the IPT in every way possible. We will be the watchdogs and myth busters. We'll show them!

Those dumba$$ players who won thousands and were told at the player's meeting that payday was on Sunday are suckers. Some of them actually hung around to watch the tournament, others left and had the check mailed to them. Talk about getting SCREWED! LMAO! OMG, they got ripped off by getting mailed thousands of dollars in prize money. Hey, we all know pool players can play, but we never said they were bright!

You seem like an intelligent person so PLEASE don't put words into my mouth. I never said
KT is a lying dirtbag or that the IPT sucks! orBoycott the IPT, don't give them a dime and pray for their failure!

We all want to see the IPT succeed. If pool players can earn a real living by playing pro pool ,that can only be good for the game.
Like I said before, pool players are not rich and some would be forced to stay if they needed their pay check to pay their hotel bill!

At the moment, the Real Rules can be changed at any time!
The Real money will be paid out whenever the IPT decide to do so- despite what they have said before.
Who knows, they might postpone the whole schedule [ again] for another 6 months!:) because of massive ratings!:D

Lets say you are backing a player and he behaves like Earl and the IPT fines him $10,000. What are you going to do about it?

At the next tourny, KT announces that all checks will be paid out at the start of the NEXT tourny. What are you going to do about it?:)

Who knows, maybe TH is getting his $350,000 in $20,000 instalments? What could he do about it? [ pure conjecture on my part!;) ]

Maybe someone on the inside can tell us why they changed their mind about paying out after every round ?

If we can't talk about whats wrong with the IPT without replies such as yours, how can it ever improve? Is it too much to ask that real rules and regulations exist ,so that players know exactly how they stand and what they can expect?
Believe it or not, to a pool player, when you don't get your money when promised, IT IS A BIG DEAL! Ask ANYBODY. Earl would agree with me on this!

Are you trying to be the Ralph Nadar of Pool? Life isn't perfect, never seen any tour that is either. They will get paid, and if they have a complaint about it, they will voice it to someone. It is one thing to express an opinion, but it quite another to be inspected every i and t. The IPT is doing many good things for Pool, and they will not be absolutely perfect in the way they go about it. I bet you are difficult to play Pool with ... lol
