pool is so lame

that if you are playing one pocket you need to discuss first, if it's a foul if the ob ball jumps the table. Does that seem dumb or is it just me? Man,in golf you can just tee it up and play,everyone knows the rules to golf,no questions even asked.To bad pool couldn't be more user friendly. How can a sport be so dumb???? What is there...10 zillion diff ways to play 8 ball???? That's very stupid...for a lack of better words,It's beyond me but I've been seeing it for about 30 years. John B.

Pool really has no governing body. And, it has a long standing tradition of "house rules" due to local tradition, or how the top players in a room like to play. Whaddayagonnado?

Well, at 1P I'd say that there is a reasonable set of rules that most should be willing to play by at onepocket.org. I'd agree, though, that the US needs a more active governing body in general.

Yes, Bob, but there's always the sleeper thing, and the base of the ball thing, and the three foul thing, and even the jump cue thing. Lotta things to straighten out before flipping it, even with the one pocket.org rules, before non-tournament play.

I can get by with the laxity of a couple of rarity one hole rules pretty easily. Although I do call the base of the ball rule, WPA wise up front. Man overboard - really? FOUL.

No, pool is not lame, it is the players. Get the World Standardized Rules and tell the opponent these are rules I play by. If you want to change something let's talk about it.

Do you think more than 10% of pool players have a copy of the rules? Pool is a great game played by lazy people.

John... do you carry a copy of the rules???

I play APA rules at home so I practice how I shoot league and I do keep a rule book in my case..

If the object ball jumps off the table, it's a foul in every game. Everywhere. Someone is moving on you.

There ya go!!!,let's make up some rules and then under them rules,lets put in a clause that says,well,uh,um,caugh spit fart and a couple himhaws lets see, better check with your opp first and make sure you are not using them ole "house rules" makes alot of sense to me:confused: Just had an idea...I'm going to come up with my own set of rules for the pool games I play." the book of house rules by JB" I'll be taking ideas through here and pms if anyone wants me to add some ands ifs or butts:thumbup:. Lou ole buddy,you aint helping any.Member that book you want me to help you write,hehe? Lets do one on all the stupid rules of pool for starters or should it be called the sport with 10,000 diff rules that nobody can understand. I think you and I together could rewrite the rules all together. Whatdoyathink? John B.
 
John, the real question at this moment is what happened recently to stimulate this rant on your part? Regardless, have to agree with you in general.
