Got my free Kamui tip, but

But no, it's more fun to b1tch because Megan Fox didn't bring your tip and a lathe to your house and give you a happy ending.

Wait... I wasn't in a complaining mood, but if some got this perk and I didn't, I WILL boycott Kamui! They could lose... TENS of dollars from my potential business! :grin-square:

Send me your address Dallas. You're next! Megan is almost done with meeee! She's so good with a tip! Me so happy.

a buddy of mine had a couple of these "vouchers" for a free Kamui tip. The problem he ran into was getting someone to honor it. Several well known tip guys said they had a hard time getting reimbursed from Kamui for these handouts so they were reluctant to honor the voucher. It was explained that they had to front/install the tip then TURN IN the voucher to Kamui and HOPE that Kamui would replace it. They all said thanks but no thanks... It may not always be like this but I was there and heard it first hand.

I call bullshit on this.

Hello,

If anyone doesn't want their voucher, come up with a fair price and PM me, we can work it out.

Thanks.

Tommy

Same here not true

Really

OK, perhaps I'm a lucky one. Within a day of my emailing Kamui, I was advised my nearest authorized installer is at a local hall I frequent:

Hello, and thank you for contacting KamuiTips.com. According to the information you submitted, the closest installer is Don Liebes in Greensboro, North CarolinaPhone: 336-856-8800 Email: don@gatecitybilliards.com Please contact Don for authorized Kamui Tips service Thank you,KamuiTips.com

I don't get some folk here. A company could award someone in a contest a $1000 cue and some would b1tch you had to drop 82 cents in gas to go to the post office because you were at the pool hall when they tried to deliver. Good God, give Mark a reasonable chance to try and clear this up with Kamui. Or maybe, just maybe, you could email Kamui direct and explain you are 120 miles from the nearest authorized dealer - can you please just mail me my FREE tip?

But no, it's more fun to b1tch because Megan Fox didn't bring your tip and a lathe to your house and give you a happy ending.

See post # 26. Megan Fox???? A cue tip and and a thousand dollar cue. I would not drive to San Francisco for a thousand dollar cue and I wouldn't drive 60 miles for a cue tip. I admit to complaining without thinking it out. What will you admit to regarding your post? Would you really have driven to Greenville to get your tip?

With respect Vic, I've simply stated twice now that we should let Mark work with Kamui to find a solution for people in a long drive position. I wasn't picking on anyone in particular, just asked for some patience. The clock is ticking, and I'm surprised no one from Kamui has rectified this yet. Good PR is turning into bad.

I agree, no one should be expected to drive hours on end when the promo was for a free tip. Some people may have made the PPV purchasing decision based on this enticement. If no reasonable option is provided soon, then by all means, people can throw the noose around a neck - that's 100% indefensible BS.

Hit me up @ T'Giving and we'll see how our new tips dance. ;) Gate City Billiards will take care of us.

Matt

I may have come off a little strong in my Megan Fox post. My apologies.

Was just trying to buy BFDLAD some time to clean it up and hate to see him take heat for a good deed gone complicated. :embarrassed2:

Story Time!

DEALER: how can i help you?

ME: i've got a voucher for a free tip - what do i need to do?

DEALER: the nearest "dealer" is 100+/- mls from you, please proceed....

ME: ok, thank you. however i can't do that, obviously; not cost-effective. can you please MAIL me the free tip, if i mail you my voucher as proof, & i'll have someone local install?

DEALER: i'm sorry, but you MUST redeem/install @ an "authorized dealer", and we will be happy to accomodate you. and thank you for your business.

ME: not going to happen. so will you CR me my COSTS to redeem? @ $100/hr & $0.53/ml? for a $30 tip that wholesales @ $10? over $0.50 postage dispute?

DEALER: no máam, and those are the rules, máam.

ME: REALLY?!?! cause this is N-O-T a problem.... you can KEEP your $10.50 tip, and i'll POST on AZB & hit 45K pool players from here to EU-rope/China, and we'll see how that works for you - i'm already in the hole via my time & our conversation.

DEALER: máam, my manager has over-rided & we are sending you your free tip, today. thank you for your business & ENJOY!

(there's a lot to be said, for PMS!)

Ok, I still have no response at this point. I hope to hear tomorrow, if I don't I will figure out a solution somehow. I need to know how many people here at this point are having a problem with the voucher in one way or another. Please let me know so I have something to work with. Thanks

good morning, Honey!

i'll volunteer to "BRING THE RAIN" w/ Kamui - cause i'm "ïn a mood"....

this is not on you, but thank you for being solid.
my voucher is supposedly good - and God help that "äuthorized dealer", if it's NOT.

it's all in how you "work-it"

Mark, someone here on AZ has a Kamui logo avatar. I forget who, maybe someone does know and will state. Perhaps he'd be an avenue to pursue? Might be a deadend, but thought I'd throw it out there. I hope you can get it resolved soon, I know you're trying.

Gosh, I would think someone with Kamui would have eyes on this thread.

I may have missed it, but; what makes one a autherised tip installer for Kamui?

Call it what you want...

Doesn't change a thing. I was standing there, you however were not. Maybe they just didn't feel like putting a tip on, I don't know.

are you saying that only mercedes can work on all of my MB's and only Harley can work om my HD's?

This is not *quite* a consistent analogy. A better one would be to say that I think only authorized Mercedes dealers should be able to sell a brand new Mercedes...*from Mercedes' point of view*. In other words, I'm saying it *may* be in Mercedes best interest to attempt to have some control over the customer experience, and to make sure that the dealership operates in a way that Mercedes deems is consistent with their vision of the customer experience. This way, if a customer is interested in the "Mercedes experience", they know where to go. I am not at all saying that other people can't work on them. In the tip example, anyone can buy a Kamui tip and put it on a cue, whether for themself or for someone else. If you have someone you like that does tip work, great. However, if you don't, and you are interested in finding someone who does them according to Kamui's advice, and hence you are looking for the "Kamui experience", I see no issue, and in fact many good aspects, of having a network of *authorized* Kamui installers. Do you see a problem with Harley Davidson holding certain standards? I sure hope they do!! As such, what's wrong with "certifying" various mechanics to work on Harley? I imagine this might then allow them to do warranty work, etc. So to use your analogy, you could still go to anyone to fix your bikes or cars. But if you want to have the full support of the manufacturer, do it their way!

and, aren't they a bit more intricate that a cue tip? especially if they are advanced and flowed and ported, cammemd, and supercharged etc".

I don't see the complexity of the product as a relevant detail. If anything, the *more* complex products would be harder for a manufacturer to support if the customer wishes to "do their own thing". What impact does stuffing a new cam and a supercharger have on your Harley's factory warranty? Especially if some no name guy at the end of your street does it in his garage?

are you kidding me or trying to kid others or just kidding yourself? i haven't a clue.

is this a joke?

I'm sorry you misunderstood so thoroughly. Not sure if that might be related to you not having a clue...I was not joking. But I have a pretty good ear for sarcasm ;)

do you think harley can do the work of s&s and others?

I don't know who s&s is. I imagine it is some high end tuner shop? In any case, does Harley Davidson support the work of s&s? If s&s truly does great work, I imagine they would not have too much trouble being authorized by Harley to do work on those bikes?

just curious as how you judge kamui - your incredible company that has these unique secrets that only their endowed techs can accomplish to put a little tip on a little piece of wood. it must take an exhausting amount of time learning.

please tell me more...

and to imagine - only their techs can accomplish this. maybe i need to fly to another state to have one installed by a kamui certified tech = one who has a cue lathe. oh i forgot, i have a cue lathe.

Smokey, perhaps you are not able to tell the difference in performance between different tip installation techniques. It really isn't particularly difficult to install a tip well, yet so many installers don't do it!! Remember that becoming an authorized installer allows you to buy the tips at a reduced cost. The idea is that Kamui and the authorized installer are entering into a mutual agreement. Is that a bad thing? Your going on and on about this...you could have spent that time becoming an authorized installer. Why don't you just look into that? I'm sure if you call kamuitips.com John would give you the details.

Hope this helps,

KMRUNOUT

Well then, since I'm "due" the respect..... please explain WHY you see it like that.

Dirt,
Perhaps you are not familiar with the expression "with all due respect". What it means is that what I am about to say is said with *the amount of respect you are due*. This may be a lot, or very very little. It is also possible (and in many cases likely) that the respect some people are given is far more than what they are due. However, this still satisfies the *minimum* level of respect they are due, so the expression may still be used in these cases. One final possibility...I may not respect the person in the *least*! I don't know you, so the respect you were *due* was the polite phrasing of my post.

Without question, installing a tip is *not* rocket science. I doubt that trying to apply rocket science to the process would help much. Now "science" is a word that seems obvious to many, but actually many many people don't know what it means. Installing a tip isn't science, but neither is using a linear supercollider. Science is a tool, a method, that can be *applied* to either of these two practices. It can be applied to *any* practice really. It is a method for acquiring and testing knowledge. For the intelligent, science can add greatly to many many common practices.

Now here comes your answer: (why do I think Kamui might be bothered by your post)...bottom line, you dis'ed them. That's it. It is common knowledge that some people are fat and ugly. Nonetheless they still get upset when people say it to them. Why is this? I doubt there is much need to elaborate?

There are many ways to install a tip (fact). Some work better than others (fact). Not every person knows every way (fact). Your opinion about what *all* tip installers know is noted, but incorrect. The simple test of what I say: do all installers use the same glue? The same grit sand paper to rough up the tip? How do they spread the glue on the tip? Do they use a glue accelerator? After they face off the ferrule, do they clean it? What do they use to clean it? I could go on and on...the point is that there are MANY subtle differences in how tips are installed. Many of these differences impact the play of the tip, its durability, longevity, etc. to various degrees. I imagine based on your posts so far that this perhaps had never crossed your mind. *Science* will allow you to test the new information and determine if it is accurate or not lol.

I read your entire post. If *I* personally were an authorized Kamui installer (I am by the way), I would have left out everything but the last line. That is my opinion. You sounded negative towards Kamui. That is my opinion as well, and may be representative of the opinions of others that read your post.

Hope this clears things up for you,

KMRUNOUT
