World Cup of Pool

Did JA just play 2 shots in a row?

SVB broke, JA pushes out, kuwait passes it back and JA shoots. Is that how it's suppose to be? I would have thought that it would have been Shane's shot :scratchhead:

wow Another likely upset. Kuwait 5-3 ahead
These Kuwaiti oil sheikhs can play. They are one of the most impressive unseeded teams aside from Hungary  Seems like the World 8 and 9 ball championships held in Middle East is helping bring out these talents

US survives 7-5. Despite Shane's fantastic return safe on a kick in rack eleven that may have been the most important shot of the match, my sense is that kicking is the US team's weakness. Archer fouled on two kicks in this match and it might have cost the match against the solid Kuwaitis.

We know Shane and Johnny can run out from anywhere, but my guess is that they'll have to play the tactical sequences a little better than this to snap off the event.

Archer's safety game is off. He was the weak link today. They also tend to spend too much time on simple shots and use up their extension too early so later in game they had to rush their shots
If they play the same way and do not step up another gear against Japan, they will be out :D

My thinking is just that this match had quite a few tactical sequences and it is likely that, at some point in the event, Shane and Johnny will get involved in a similar match. When that match comes, they need to execute better in the tactical exchanges.

Still, I think they will beat Japan.

Is the stream freezing up now? It was good in the morning. Right now its unwatchable. Got a high speed internet too...

Johnny got in less than 12 hours before match time. Not a good idea to be jet lagged in a competition like this. You better take ALL these teams seriously! Anyone can beat anyone in a Race to Seven! There will be more "upsets!"

Shane played in the same 14.1 tournament that Johnny A. did. When did Shane get there? There only playing for 60K as a TEAM why get enough rest. Johnnyt

Not correct

Shane played in the World 14.1 a few weeks ago with Archer at Steinway in NYC. Archer played Sunday and Monday in the Maryland 14.1 and lost in the finals. Shane did not participate in that event.

My point exactly. Shane got rest Johnny won a few bucks. Johnnyt

A point that needs to be made here is that the Maryland 14.1 event was scheduled for this past Saturday and Sunday. When it was determined that a few players that played in the World 9-ball Championship in Doha, Qatar wouldn't make it to Maryland 14.1 if the event went off on time, the event was changed to a Sunday/Monday event, and Archer reached the final on Monday night.

Johnny Archer would have been in London a day sooner and would have been much better rested had the Maryland 14.1 event gone off on its original schedule.

Archer committed to participate in an event scheduled to end Sunday, and should not, in my view, be blamed for the delay. He honored his commitment to play in Maryland and that's OK in my book, even though the price of doing so was nearly a first round exit in the World Cup of Pool.

Anyway, Johnny and Shane are not on tomorrow's slate of matches, so let's hope that they'll be well rested and in full gear by Friday's match against Japan.

Johnny is on the record as saying this tourney is very dear to his heart, for his son Lee, and he'll play it every year he can swing a stick. He's got a tough balancing act figuring out his global schedule.

If you push out and they give it back , the person who did the pushout shoots again in scotch doubles
