His last name is Bedard. He just beat Wilkie 9-4. His name doesn't come up anywhere I checked. In years I haven't seen an unknown come to a major tournament that was this good. Don't tell me we have one of the few that went from his home table to a major and did well. Johnnyt

And really the score could've been even more lopsided. It wasnt as though shawn played too badly, either.

Not knowing where he beat Shaun, is it possible it's Andrew Petard from Montreal? If so, from my recollections, it's not such a big deal. Andrew has done well in the few Joss events he's played in over the years. Think he won a Joss in Syracuse several years ago over some of the Northeast's best.

At turning stone on the streaming table. Didn't catch his first name but his last name is spelled Bedard. Big heavy set guy. Really good player.(

His name is Guy Bedard from up here in Quebec. Watch for my Dudes from Quebec making some noise.

Not really . We have a league here in Quebec with several solid players. Maybe not world class speed, but good players never the less. Most of these guys don't really play tourneys outside of the province.

Many of our "pros" don't compete on the international stage anymore.

9 ball....... a game that fails to challenge the skills of any shortstop or above. Each rack is unique to itself in terms of lucky rolls from the opening break and the lie of the balls.

At this level it comes down to how the player feels physically and mentally, not even on a particular day, but during a particular match.

One match doesn't mean much in 9 ball in determining the better player. Shoot, in 9 ball you might not legitimately be able to determine that in a half dozen matches.

At this level the really talented players play, 9 ball boils down to an elaborate coin toss.
