Just watched the classic match up. Lot of fun. Looks to me like Willie fouled shooting the game ball in the rotation round with his left side pants when leaning over table at 55:05 of match. Just curious. Here is the link. No that it matters but it seemed pretty obvious. Here is the l ink, if you can't get it just log on youtube and bring up the match to the 55 minute mark and you will see the foul

I can't believe you started a thread about a "possible" foul at 55:05 but THAT one.

I love watching this old stuff. Times sure have changed! Makes me wonder how they would play with LD shafts.

Cosell's commentation is driving me nutzzzz !!! :eek: A masse' shot(25:15) is a "half-miscue??" :rolleyes::rolleyes:
 
Man that was blatant. I just watched. I must have gotten up for a beer at that point and missed the shot.!!! Ha ha
 
Great stuff...

Watched a few minutes and they really had there stuff together back then. The commentator did an excellent job. He really made it exciting and was very descriptive. No reason pool can't be exciting and make national TV. If they did it back then it can be done bigger and better now.

Oh man that was something to see. He grabbed it put it back real quick and it wasn't even close. The 4 was on the other side of the 5 and he put it between the 5 and the rail. Those Old Timers really had some good moves. :thumbup:
 
The "feud" between Fats and Willie attracted an audience. At 57:15 when they shake hands Willie winked at Fats.

When I was a kid I lived in a trailer court in Amarillo Texas for a while. A lot of professional wrestlers lived in the same trailer court. The same guys who were enemies on television were drinking beer and eating burgers together.
 
Fats fouled on the 5 ball at just after the 12 minute mark. He was locked against the 5 with the cue ball and shot straight into it on that one in the side attempt.

oh man that is a poor comparison. Wrestling?
 
Its really a shame that we cant get this match on dvd or a better clearer video because this was comedy at its best with Fats going off about everything. I have this one downloaded but i would love to have it on dvd. I remember watching this in 77 or 78 when it happened and me and my pop were laughing like hell.
Fats was just too funny, i think this guy could have been a top notch comedian if he chose to, just toss him the daily newspaper and have him comment on the days top storys and he will steer it to where he beat the King of Siam out of all the gold in the country !! lol
RIP Fats and Wille.
 
I would put the over/under on the number of matches Minnesota Fats played in his entire life with all ball fouls at zero.

As far as the two men feuding, if a feud puts cash in their pockets then a feud is what people will see. If you buy the feud guess what - you just got hustled.
 
I cant believe some of the missed shots, or even willies stroke in the first few 9ball games. Fats definitely has a hustler stroke! he perfected the I dont care effort approach. I would love to hear what the forum instructors would say. I know they are all time greats but They didnt impress me MUCH. Fats was too wild like he was playin a tues night league But thanks to whoever posted this, I enjoyed the hell out it..
