You may as well name the place here: Crystal City Sports Pub. First tourney is Monday, 10/21 at 7:30 pm. Will Danny allow himself to play under the no pros rule?

Until the mid-2000s, CCSP had a real nice Monday tournament. They tried to get it going again a few years ago, but no luck. I think having Danny run it and some AZB promotion might get it started back up. The tables are bigger than 7', I think. Maybe small 8's.

I should be able to make this one pretty often and will spread the word.

Listing in tourney section updated.

They had the first tournament last night. Lucky for the Brandon Shuff, the winner, I wasn't able to get there in time to enter (they started on time, too).

The turn-out was strong, including Danny Green, Brandon, and a number of other pretty decent locals.

It's a race to 1, double-elimination, on mostly level but pretty slow tables. Even Danny and Brandon weren't consistently running out. So, pretty much anyone who shoots good enough to break and run now and then has a shot.

$20 entry fee, every Monday at 7:00, and no greens fees. In fact, the bar adds money. Big Rack starts next week. With races to 1 on 5 tables, it went pretty quick, too.

This is basically the only pool tournament inside the Beltway, so check it out!

Cory how many entrants were there? And, what were the payouts?

Black Cat

Do you know what time it ended or how long these may go into the night?

I think it wrapped up around 9:30. With 32 players, it would probably go till 11 or 12. It's just a race to 1, double-elim.

If it really starts to run long, Danny could do what I used to do in my tournamet: even out the payouts between 1st and 2nd a bit, and then the winner of the winner's bracket gets to just leave and not wait for the winner of the loser's bracket. That's where all the waiting happens. So instead of $250 and $100, make it $200 and $150, but the $200 winner gets to go home much earlier, while the $150 one-loss winner has to travel a much tougher road.

It's more of a second chance tournament than a true double-elim, but it does cut out a ton of waiting.

We have such a shortage of weekly pool tournaments. I'd like to go to this one. I know and like Danny Green. Being on a weekday night, it makes it rough for me because of work. If it ends early, though, that is doable.

The ones that used to take place at Orange Ball in Rockville, MD would go until two in the morning? By the time I get home, I'm not good for work the next day. Just too much.

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of us locals!
