Van-Van breaking for rack No. 5. He's got a straight-in shot on the 1 in the corner pocket at the end rail, but position is tough for 2 ball. Well, Not for Van-Van. He gets perfect on the 2.

He floats it in and now is aiming for the 3 in the top corner. Van-Van is on a roll now.

Van-Van pauses and eyes the table layout before shooting.

Makes the 4 in the side, must now shoot 6 in the side. He barely made it. 9-ball rocks the pocket, but doesn't sink. Goes for the 8, makes it, and now the 9.

4-1 for Van-Van.

Van-Van moves the bead. Now he's breaking. Pockest the 7 ball. He's got a straight shot on the 1 in the corner, but position on the 2 is tough.

He gets an angle on the 2, to go to the 3. Beautiful shot.

Now he has an angle on the 3, and he's now on an easy runout.

Van-Van is now free-rolling on the table. He looks comfortable and confident, playing with a good speed.

5-1, Van-Van.

The Pros are starting to call these tournaments "RACKING CHAMPIONSHIPS" and for good reason, I know it's no fun for me to play against the world's greatest rackers.

To not have Referees racking the balls at PRO EVENTS is ludicrous.

Here's what Rodney Morris (US OPEN 10 CHAMPION 1013) Says About Pool These Days.....THIS IS OFF HIS PUBLIC FACEBOOK PAGE THIS WEEK.....and I agree:

Playing at noon in the US Open 9 Ball racking championships. Final 32 on the one loss side. Gonna be a funny match today. I play a guy that's gonna wire the corner ball and make it 100% on his breaks. I'm lucky if I get to five games. Feel like forfeiting but I won't. Still gotta fight hard and see if I can overcome this nonsense. Builds character to get into a fight knowing you're gonna take a beating. My the sad state pool is in nowadays:( Rodney Morris

Well I got 17th at the US Open 9 Ball racking championships. Balls don't roll your way, u can't win. Good luck to everyone left. I wanna thank my sponsors and friend Dragon Billiards, Andy Cloth, Dragon Promotions, Universe Clothing, www.ilovecues.com. life is good. Aloha and God Bless:) Rodney Morris

Rodney is one of the classiest and most professional players and simply "says it like it is" without "kissing butt" and many of us respect him for that. The GAME is in a sad state of affairs because of the equipment, rules and regulations.....not to mention the lack of effort to televise matches, and call "Streaming Video" TV, when everyone knows streaming video is NOT TV.....calling a "spade a spade" needs to happen, for this is nothing by a public embarrassment to the Pro Players and the Game it's self. If the game could talk it would be saying EXACTLY what Rodney and I are saying.

'The Game is Our Teacher'

Yeah, the rack is an issue on this TV table. Once again, Van-Van is trying to get a tight rack.

Jayson is benched, looknig bored, with his arms crossed, trying to stay focused and waiting for an opportunity back at the table.

Rack No. 7 begins. He makes a cut-break. 1 in th side. Sharp cut on the 2 in the corner. Beautiful shot.

Good angle on the 3 in the corner pocket.

The loser here is guaranteed $10,000 for third place. 2nd place pays $15,000. So these two are basically playing for $5,000.

Van-Van is firing them in. He has a short stroke, compared to most other Filipino champions, like Efren's and Bustie's long stroke.

Pockets the 9, 6-1, Van-Van winning.

Van-Van breaks, pockets a ball and moves that bead. :D

1 in the side with the cut break with a nice shot at the 2.

Shaw appears to look like he knows the match is getting away from him. Not happy.

Uh-oh, a rare miss. Van-Van misses the 2, trying to get position on the 3.

Jayson back at the table, pockets the 2, going for the 3, and he's shooting fast. Shaw wants to capitalize on this error. Within seconds, he wins a game.

6-2, Van-Van winning.

Accu-Stats score: Jayson is 857 and Van-Van is 900.

Jayson keeps his chalk in his pocket, chalks after each shot.

Scott Frost on the rail wearing sunglasses, to shield him from the bright TV table lights.

Jayson is a little out of line on the 6 ball. Plays a safety.

Van-Van to the table, eye-balling the shot, looking for an edge.

Oh, my. Van-Van tries to softly cut the 6, and he misses.

Jayson back at the table. Two errors by both players this game.

Jayson wins, 6-3. Van-Van's favor. Two in a row for Jayson.

Breaks the balls, makes something. He then proceeds to pocket.

Plays a safety on the 2. Lee attempts to hit the 3 and scratches.

Jayson has ball in hand. Makes the 2. Perfect on the 3. Everything looks easy.

6-ball in the corner. 7-ball in the corner, 8-ball in the corner. 9-ball in the corner.

6-4, Van-Van in the lead.

Accu-Stats 891 for Jayson and 882 for Lee Vann.

Jayson cracks the rack softly. Position on the 1 is perfect. The table looks wide open right now. Jayson shooting each shot within 2 or 3 seconds, playing fast.

He makse it look easy, fast as he's shooting. He's out again.

6-5, now a 1-game lead by Van-Van.

Breaks the balls and the 1 goes. 2 in the middle of the table. Slices the 1 up the rail in the corner pocket.

He fires the 2 ball in the corner. Softly cuts the 3 in the same corner. Shoots the 5 in the same corner. Now goes for the 6 in the opposite corner. Slides the 7 up the rail in the corner.

He could have gotten better here on the 8, I think, but he can see it. Makes it.

9 in the corner and ties up the game, 6-6.

This is 5 in a row now for Jayson. Jayson is living in New York CIty now and is house pro at Steinway.

Wing ball goes in after the break. Danny D. thinks Jayson's streak has stopped. His 2-ball lis tough. He can't see the 2. He plays a safety.

Van-Van to the table. He kicks the 2-ball very nicely and snookers Jayson. Jayson is rubbing his head, shaking his head, not believing his eyes. He could have jumped but chose to masse. He over-masses the ball and leaves Van-Van a shot at the 2.

Van-Van studies the table and tries to slow down the pace. He misses the 2, and again, Jayson is snookered. He moans. Lee Vann smiles going back to his seat as he sees Jayson shaking his head.

Jayson pauses. Again, tries a masse and misses. He bangs his stick on the table, showing emotion.

Van-Van comes back to the table. BEAUTIFUL bank shot on the 2 in the side. Just beautiful!

Now he's going for the 4, but must avoid the scratch in the side. Good shot! He makes it.

Now he's looking at the 5 in the side. He hits two rails and now is confronted with another sharp cut on the 6 in the corner. He makes it. The crowd applauses.

Pockets the 7. Pockets the 8. Perfect position on the 9.

7-6, Van-Van regains his lead.

Jayson is motioning in the chair, getting disgusted. He is showing emotion.

Lee is breaking. He has a nice stance when he breaks. 1 in the side, soft break, leaves himself a jumpshot on the 2 in the corner, though. His options are a jump or a push. He pushed out.

Jayson is back to the table. Bad shot. Not very well thought out. Lee is back to the table and can see the 2-7 combo, piece of cake, but where does the 2 go?

7 goes in like it has eyes. Doesn't leave himself an easy shot on the 2. Oh, man, he tries to slow roll the 2 ball in the side, but the cueball beat it to the side and knocked it away from its path.

Jayson back to the table. Misses. This could be fatal. Van-Van straight in on the 2. Makes it. 3-ball, piece of cake. He has a good angle on the 5 ball. Fired it in, makes it, but he's now faced with a 4-8 combo in the corner. Makes it. Now pockets the 4.
6 ball in the side. Nice leave on the 9.

Lee 8, Jayson 6.

Van-Van breaks and comes up empty, didn't make a ball.

Jayson back to the table. First the 1 ball in the side pocket on a bankshot. He leaves the cueball on the end rail and the 2-ball is all the way at the other end, and he makes it. Great shot. He's now frozen on the three. Throws his hands up. Plays a safe.

Van-Van now misses the hit on the 3. Mistake! Big mistake!

Here comes Jayson back to the table with ball in hand. Here goes Jayson. Shooting fast again. Makes the 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Jayson is in it to win it.

8-7, Van-Van still in the lead.

Jayson takes a time out.

THE US OPEN RACKING CHAMPIONSHIPS - we must STOP this !!!

Jayson back, racks the balls, and breaks. At Jayson's table, he has a bowl of fresh pineapple and cantelope. :D

Rack No. 16, the cut break by Jayson, makes the 1. 2 in the corner, 3 in the side. He gets a little out of line on the 3 in the side, though. It could have been better. He makes it, but he has an awful leave on the 5. He pockets it in the corner. Runs out for the win.

Interestingly, Jayson breaks with his playing cue. Jayson says he has more control breaking with his playing cue.

Tie game, 8-8.

Interestingly, Lee Van has the highest Accu-Stats score playing on the TV table at 972 in a previous match. Mika is second with a 950-something.

Jayson breaks, pockets a ball, and fires the 1 in the side pretty hard. 2 in the corner. 3 in the opposite corner. Pockets the 4, pockets the 5. Straight-in shot on the 6 in the corner, and pockets the 9.

Jayson now has the lead, 9-8.

Jayson breaks, and again, the wing ball goes.

Makes a nice long shot on the 1 in the corner. He's in control of it now. Makes the 2. Straight in on the 3. Looks like a Mickey Mouse runout from here. He doesn't take more than 2 seconds between each shot. It's uncanny.

Jayson 10, Van-Van 8. Jayson on the hill.

Beautiful break. Makes the 1 and 2 in the same corner pocket. He can see on the 3, but the cueball is laying by the rail.

This is the case game. Jayson takes a walk around the table.

Makes the 3 in the corner pocket, but he tied up the 8-9. Makse the 4. Now he cannot see the 6 at all. Horrible leave. He plays a safety.

Van-Van back at the table, fighting for his life in this match. He studies the shot. Hits the rail first and cannot make the 6. Comes with a miss.

Jayson back to the table in this case game. 6-ball isn't really in a good positino, but he can make it in the corner. He misses and SCRATCHES.

Van-Van is now at the table. He still has life. Shoots the 6, makes the 7. Remember the 8 and 9 are tied up. He can see a sliver of the 8, though. A lifeline for Corteza. Makase the 8. Makes the 9.

Jayson 10, Lee Vann, 9.

If Van-Van wins this one, they will have to go to two more. Winner has to win by 2.
