He's an APA 3 in our local league and has never posted to AZB before, so he wanted me to make a post for him. He has some good thoughts on what's wrong with pool, so he wanted to share them.

- There are no referees at matches

- Referees should rack the balls because people might cheat

- People hoot and holler when they win and hoot and holler when you're trying to shoot and get your bridge right

- They only give patches to people who win lots of games, but as a beginner, they should give you patches that say you're trying really hard

- People act like they play worse than they really do, which makes it really hard when people try hard normally

- People are really mean online in the forums, which is why he won't post

- When people win a tournament, they should get paid. Otherwise, sponsors won't sponsor.

- Pool isn't on tv... which is something wrong with pool

- Promoters don't work together, he says

- He said that's it for now.... that's all he can think of.

Skippy is wants to read your thoughts on what's wrong with pool, but he won't reply because he is too shy to get an account on AZB because people always lambaste -- which, is one of his listed items above for what's wrong with pool.

Sounds like Skippy wants prizes for being a beginner? Reminds me of elementary schools that give trophies to losing teams, so that they don't feel left out.

REALITY CHECK. Failure is important in order to succeed. Giving out patches is already a ridiculous gimmick of leagues, and really makes it childish. To ask that EVERYONE gets those patches is even more ridiculous, as it leads to views of entitlement.

Skippy ought to switch to Pokemon or tee ball. He states problems with pool that we are all aware of.

^^^^^^ Skippy said this is what's wrong with pool

(I didn't - he did)

LOL! Does Skippy still have that awesome lisp/ littthhhhhp?

I agree 100% with Skippy. He's my hero.

The biggest problem with pool.......drum roll please..........

People not attempting to be the change that they want to see in pool.

Please don't get upset with me and think I am bullying, I'm just saying that it makes more sense to fix something that stand there and yell at it because it's broke.

If there is something that you yourself don't like about the game, fix it. Don't like the league... start your own. Don't like the rules in a particular tournament, have your own tourny. want to make pool more popular, start by implementing youth pool programs.

There are too many people sitting back yelling "It's broke it's broke" and not doing anything to make a difference. And btw, I have done all of the above suggestions and have seen the difference it can make. None of this will change over night. The generations before us were great at building futures. This generation seems to lack foresight. We want it now and no one cares about tomorrow. Well, I don't think that anything can be a instant fix. We need to build new interest in the sport and that start with youth. Many areas in the US has already started this and I truly think it is the only chance for a strong future for cue sports. Other countries are already generations ahead of us in promoting a strong youth culture in the sport.

Movies about pool, new pool games and even colorful pro players help, but the only thing that I think will insure it's future is to get kids involved in a positive way.

Skippy is shy?
Tell that marlon-farmer that he'll be even shyer if he gambles with me.

And what's wrong with lambasting?....
...when the game was healthy, there was a lot of that going on.

pt....misses the trash talkin'

Is skippy just going to ***** about what is wrong or does he have some ideas on how to fix it?

How long must this failure before suceeding go on for? I have been in a terrible slump now for at least a month, WTF? Answers anyone? Im not looking for patches for losing either, I deserve to be bullied for the way I have been playing!! I say that what is wrong with pool is that right now I really suck at it and it is hard to make more than 1 ball in a row.

That's normal. We can't always perform at 100%. I've been in a 2 year slump, after a 2 year high. I take it in stride, it's forever a learning process.

- There are no referees at matches

You pay for some, you can have them.

- People hoot and holler when they win and hoot and holler when you're trying to shoot and get your bridge right
People complain about having to be quiet and get into rage-posts over it. Pick a side of the fence and live with it.

- They only give patches to people who win lots of games, but as a beginner, they should give you patches that say you're trying really hard
Not everyone gets a trophy. Suck it up.

- People act like they play worse than they really do, which makes it really hard when people try hard normally
That happens in every sport. It is not unique to pool.

- People are really mean online in the forums, which is why he won't post
Pot/kettle

- When people win a tournament, they should get paid. Otherwise, sponsors won't sponsor.
Even the US Open 9-Ball players get paid, it's just usually late.

- Pool isn't on tv... which is something wrong with pool
You pay for it, I'll watch it. Done.

- Promoters don't work together, he says
I will defer to Larry Chiborak on this. Larry, what do you have to say?

I would like my "Responded to Shy Lurker" badge now. Oh, and my trophy. And a referee to hand me my badge and trophy. On TV. While getting paid. In a quiet room. And I would like Mark G and Larry C to sing in perfect harmony and hold hands.

Haha Scott, I love the APA, just started this summer and it helped to get me hooked on pool!

ANSWERS:
- There are no referees at matches - Most Pro's don't even have referees, get over it.

- Referees should rack the balls because people might cheat - Some players will but NOT all. Cheats NEVER prosper!

- People hoot and holler when they win and hoot and holler when you're trying to shoot and get your bridge right - This will teach you more of the mental side to the game and make you better and teach high level concentration!

- They only give patches to people who win lots of games, but as a beginner, they should give you patches that say you're trying really hard - contact one of the accessory / cue manufacturers I'm sure they will give you a patch and probably appreciate the contact. I can recommend Black Heart Tips, I asked and they gave. I even got a free sample

- People act like they play worse than they really do, which makes it really hard when people try hard normally - THAT'S LIFE not just pool...

- People are really mean online in the forums, which is why he won't post - Some individuals feel and act like 10 men behind a keyboard.

- When people win a tournament, they should get paid. Otherwise, sponsors won't sponsor. I agree

- Pool isn't on tv... which is something wrong with pool - buy some DVD's. Again why not contact one of the live stream company's you may get a discount

- Promoters don't work together, he says - Most Players don't work together either. Find the ones that do and walk on...

- He said that's it for now.... that's all he can think of.

Dear Skippy,
Ask not what Pool can do for YOU, but what YOU can do for Pool.
You'll enjoy the game much more

Ooo! Ooo! Ooo! It's time for the Dialectizer!

- There are no referees at matches -- how much should a referee charge per match?

- Referees should rack the balls because people might cheat -- where are you going to get them?

- People hoot and holler when they win and hoot and holler when you're trying to shoot and get your bridge right -- learn not to her stuff (you know just like normal husbands)

- They only give patches to people who win lots of games, but as a beginner, they should give you patches that say you're trying really hard -- Why don't you just buy the patch with your menbership!?!?

- People act like they play worse than they really do, which makes it really hard when people try hard normally -- Its part of the game

- People are really mean online in the forums, which is why he won't post -- Normal situation -- nothing to see here, move along

- When people win a tournament, they should get paid. Otherwise, sponsors won't sponsor. -- Err, no. Do you have ANY idea what the work amateur happens to mean?

- Pool isn't on tv... which is something wrong with pool -- TV wants $$$ to put pool on. Right no nobody wants to pay the $$$. There is plenty of pool on the internet (OK, maybe not plenty, but there is a lot)
