Could this happen.

We had a "regional" AZB tourney at Volcano's in Hurst, Texas a few years ago. Ten players (if you count my wife, which I had better do) showed up. I won a trophy...the Hoover award (for sucking the most).

It was a blast....wish we could do it again.

We have talked about it and even considered setting up a paypal for added monies where if you like something well enough to give someone greenies you could dig in the pay pal pocket book and throw some real green to AZ like a buck or 2... figure if we did it over a year there would be decent change in the account and we could limit the players to people with x number of posts for the same time period.....

I could see doing DCC or SBE since they are pretty big events anyway...
 
How many of you would go to this, I would

A central part of the country where everybody could meet. Vendors like Jim Baxter and Jb cases and so on. We could have Trent from Toledo or KingCobra set up the tables (If he doesn't forget the rails.) Just kidding.Tournaments, There's some pro's that would show up. We could have a one pocket match between SJD and CJ. How cool would this be. What would you like to see.
 
The thought of having the entire aiming forum together in one place and within arms reach of one another makes me nervous. But ... we could gamble on who the last man standing would be.
 
That would be fun. A nice centrally located part of the country would be the best. Fond Du Lac Wisconsin would fit the bill nicely. Its about 45 minutes north of Milwaukee, 2 hours north of Chicago.:D In fact its so centrally located that we are in the Central time zone and that is just spittin distance where the EAA Fly In is located every year.:thumbup:
 
I would love to see this happen - and since so many of us go to DCC anyway, why not see about putting together a thing there, or perhaps several "minis" at different times with different formats? There's usually talk of an AZB room (or table) and I'm hoping something like that happens this year (since it really didn't last year).

I checked it out, it looks like a nice place. I talked to Tori at the visitors bureau and they have fair grounds we could use. Osh Kosh is by there also.
The best part of something like this is we can talk to whatever city and get the best set up in the way of permitting, renting, accommodations etc. We can make our own deal. A lot of cities would like something like this to bring in some money. This would be fun.

Most of us go to DCC, I think.

i'd think maybe a free-for-all (kind of like an open party), 2 day event w/ 20-50tbls, pick your own partner (or call them out), and whoever wins the most matches - gets an AZB tshirt!

JA's got the venue @ ATL.
CJ's got the venue @ DFW.
but hotels start @ $65.
Vegas is still the cheapest place to travel - airfare @ $150-$380 & hotel included; or hotels @ $25; 4hrs flight max.

Mike can organize.
Jerry can commentate.
JP can photograph.
and of course, Mr Wilson will referee!

That makes sense what your saying, but I was thinking to have it be it's own event.
Make it more cost friendly, so more people would show up. The tables wouldn't be free but some of the table guys here could help out a little bit. Any town you go to there are locals that cater. We could buy the drinks and sell at cost. A less populated town will be cheaper to stay and easier to get around. Right? I see what your saying though there's already people there.

I think its a great idea . I would not be able to show up , because of my wifes health . I cant be away from my wife more than a couple hours .

Ten of us from Northwest Indiana went up to play ten guys we met fishing. They gave us directions to Carp's Corner in Fond Du Lac. Had a absolute blast. They took the cash register out and put up a adding machine. Food and drinks were put on it and the losing team paid the bill. At that time it appeared that a Bar and a church were on every corner. We lost that bout and the tab was around 300 hundred dollars. We were more then happy to pay. They later came to our place in a town that I grew up in called Black Oak on the west side of Gary Indiana. Our bar was named The Colonial Club. Same great time as we had up at Carp's Corner. This was in the summer of 1974 or 75.
Anyone know if or when it closed? Sorry, I got off track when I saw Fond du lac mentioned.:smile:
