All Japan 10 Ball Championship 2013 (21-24Nov2013)

Rodney lost on the hill to Hayato. I am not sure of how to read their charts, but I think he won his first match so he is still in the field. Is Marc Vidal over there? I could see a name that was Mark V but could not see the rest.

16K. Like someone else said, the prize fund took a drop from last year. Loss of sponsorship is what I heard. The players are still here only because it's a WPA ranking event.

Last 64 matchup Biado vs Ko

Wow. Last 64 (race to 11) dream match Biado vs Ko. This is a must watch and they better stream this match. Battle of the young guns. If they do stream it it should be either 1 hour from now or 5 hours from now.
Lo Li Wen Vs Wang Can is another interesting match
All Last 64 race should be finalised in another hour

If Biado is playing Ko on the stream I gotta watch that no matter how late I have to stay up. Hopefully I get to see Thorsten on the stream this weekend as well.

Thornsten v Chen Tsin Ting on stream now 1-1. Thorsten is hungry for a 2nd All Japan title but this 20 y.o. kid Chen is no pushover and Thorsten knows it :)

Thanks Jay, that is really nothing considering how many top pros after it. Too bad, no wonder top US and Brits pros did not go

Thorsten wins 11-8 after playing as badly as I've ever seen him play.

He hit a shot last night that might be one of the worst he's hit in his career. It was slight cut into the bottom right and he just jacked it straight into the end rail. It may or had to have been a miscue. There was no sound so I dont know. I was glad to see him pull it out. Takes heart to stay in it and come back when you don't have your A game.

Rack?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the rack that they are using for this tournament?

I have the same question. Maybe someone will notice our questions and comment.

I'm guessing it's a temporary stick-on kind of "magic rack". You leave it on the table all the time, so it must be very thin and high quality. And it can be used for any game! I want one!

Heck would have paid to watch the Biado-Ko showdown if it was streamed.. In future every pool table should come with streaming equipment. Since players self rack they should be taught how to set up streaming equipment, maybe they can get cut of revenues from such videos
Great matches are lost and not captured on video if there is only streaming on 1 table out of 16 tables.
Saw the live score, it was 2-2 early on. And next I saw it was Ko on hill 10-4. Ko must have put on some packs as usual. His nickname should be "Packman" instead of "Prince of Pool". Too many Princes of Pool already. If I am not mistaken Cory Deuel is also Prince of Pool.
Anyway, the score stopped at 10-4 for ages. Must have been lots of safeties between 2 of them. Then suddenly Biado must have put in a pack so it was suddenly 10-9. Then next time I looked again it showed score for the next womens match. So score must have been 11-10 or 11-9 :D
They have condensed this years final stage to 4 days instead of 5 days last year. That means a crazy hectic final day tomorrow. The finalists will have to play 5 matches at least 10 hours non-stop (except short breaks between matches) from last 32 to final with no rest in between http://www.jpba.ne.jp/tst/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/nov24.jpg
5 matches x11 racks =55 racks so it will be like race to 55. The 2 finalists have to play at least 55 to maximum 105 racks. Such a hectic schedule is probably unprecedented in any major tourney.

Likely quarterfinalists tomorrow.
1) Fu Che Wei
2) Thorsten
3) Ko
4) Pagalayan

5) Chang
6) Efren or Orcollo or Lee Van or Chang Yu Lung
7) Mika
8) Johann Chua

I texted him after the match. He miscued on the 2. Said it happens to more players at this event every year than any other in the world.

How about his cue ball foul that he called on himself? And all the safeties where either the OB or CB leaked out? Very uncharacteristic for him.

Thorsten knows how to win. At pro level you have to know your opponent and how to make him drop his guard and then devaour him alive, few other players good at this.
