Can anyone tell me, or show me how to find it on Dr. Dave's site.

I thought that I had searched every nook and cranny for it. It was probably under my nose and missed it.

I would like to find the part on double hits etc. A rather drunk and mouthy woman at league last night saying that a certain shot is a double hit.

I told her that, that was why you shoot the ball at a 45, jacked or sideways. As long as the cue ball doesn't push forward over the Tangent line, it was perfectly fine.

I seriously dislike drunken knobs in the bar. I have zero to prove to her, then or later.
I would just like to brush up again and watch a few of those particular shot being made.

Here you go Buddy

Thanks Wedge and Neil.

Neil, I could have sworn that I did click on that same link on his site, but that didn't come up.

But that was what I was looking for and will watch both links.

Cool, cause I know that I was correct. 4 hrs of Ref Class so you can't go over everything, but, if they dwelt on one thing, it was those type of shots and how to identify close fouls and good hits. They were pretty thorough about that.

Dave's site helped a lot as well just to confirm at a later date what we had learned in class.

All of the "pool rules quiz" videos and scoring documents can be found at the bottom the page here:

FYI, lots of useful videos relating to how to both detect and avoid double hit fouls can be found here:

I wish every league player were required to watch these videos when they first sign up. Maybe you can convince the "mouthy woman" to watch them. Good luck with that!

Enjoy,
Dave

Thanks Dave. The shot that was in question last night, the balls were very close.

One claimed that the shot couldn't be done. I showed them that it could be done if careful. It was the only shot available on the table so why not be careful and try it.

One could have hit it differently (45 from the side) and made a legal shot but there was no way to play safe, and the opponents ball was over a hole and a given shot from anywhere on the table.
So it was a try shot, and if not, most likely a loss of game or a ball in hand which wouldn't have made a difference considering where their last ball was. My humble opinion anyway.

I guess what I did was what the video referred to as a Nip Draw Shot.
The cue ball didn't cross the tangent line and I had the cue well out of the way before the ball drew back a tiny bit.

It is a difficult shot to do. also witnessed in the video, but like I said, when all else would fail, you have nothing to lose by trying.

One of the guys that claimed that it couldn't be done, said that he figured that it was a good shot.

I also had to show him a frozen ball shot and show him how it was considered to be a legal hit.

They ruffled my feathers a bit last night because of their stupid drunkeness and that usually is pretty hard to do to me.
And here I thought that drunks only argued over whos money is next on the bar box.

Anyway, its about time to review the entire series again anyway.

This series is great for anyone to watch as you're lucky to have a ref on hand at any time during league, so you may as well make yourself at least familiar with shots that will 100% come up.

Before that I showed that the shot could be done, I was told loudly that she would never call me to Ref a shot on one of their games.
I said fine with me as its not exactly a privilege or anything to leave my table to come to ref a shot at another.

if you are referring to me - then your bike is dumped outside.

PS - i thought yáll shot SLOP up there?

Not really, we kind of have an idea on what we are doing. One thing in the winter tho, for those of us who have outside tables. The polar bears can get in the way sometimes.

The Timber Wolves are tame, we feed them. Our Beaver hats are warm.

Gotta run, Igloolik just missed a shot, its my turn.

Bought a pair of Baffins last night. Rated for minus 148. Feet are nice and toasty.

WTF are baffins? You Canadiens f with my head even worse than the Euro's.

BTW, a ref is an educated pool player's best friend. Donkeys beware!

She sounds like she knew what she was talking about,

Really, how is that?
Apparently you didn't read my other post.

forward over the Tangent line

What part of that didn't you understand. Or did I not word it properly for you.

Did any of you guys take the test? How did you do? I got 84 out of 100 but some of the questions aren't fair like making a ruling on something off the sceen if you don't see it how can you call it?

Thats pretty decent Maritimer.

When Dave and Bob made the videos, he posted a link. This was much before I took a class and honestly didn't fair very well on the not so obvious ones.

After I came back from Vegas, the class was fresh in my mind and I did much better when I tried it again.

The harder shots became more clear.

Anyway, Wenge, Neil and Dave were nice enuff to provide me with the links and I went over them again. I didn't keep score but still did ok for someone that hasn't done any reffing for a couple of years. I was happy that the 2 shots in question last night were there. I knew they were someplace as I remember both of them well. The very thin ball hit is difficult to do and would require some practice to be consistent. Glad that I was able to do it half a ssed last night.

There were a couple that I got wrong but when the Legal version of the shots were demoed, it was nice to get a refresher as they do come up quite often.

After Freddy posted, I was afraid that I may have accidentally also asked for smart A ss answers.

He has a habit of dropping in and doing hit and runs on threads with what he thinks are funny quips.

He probably has his knickers in a twist because he wasn't included in the 3 Most Favorite Posters thread. Cue collectors can be funny that way.

AH! :idea2:....so this is why you're an expert on the frozen ball rule.

Freddy is my hero

Yes, in more ways than one, or two Paul.
Bugger trying to unfreeze frozen balls with lock de icer.

Freddy is your Hero. Yeah, I have always liked him as well. If you asked me why, I wouldn't be able to tell you at the moment tho.

He picked the wrong thread to give me poke in tho, if that was his intention.

If he is your Hero Paul, why didn't you give him a vote in the other thread.

Anyway, the thread is good for maybe some members that haven't been around long enuff to know about the Pool Quiz.

Like I mentioned, you don't have to be a Ref to appreciate the videos.

In that other thread, I mentioned I like at least 200 of the regular posters
on the main forum....you AND Freddy are two of them....
...and I think Dr Dave is a treasure.

I refereed in a world wheel-chair Olympics once...had to warn a guy
about doing wheelies in his opponent's line of aim....:o
...he was one of ours.

Yep, I get lots of great stuff from Dave's site. I can't imagine what it must be like to have made and edited all those clips. Labor of Love.

I haven't even scratched the surface yet

Paul, I was trying to remember Freddies last name. Ragnar or something. No, couldn't be. Ragnar is the nasty Viking on Vikings.
Aganew?

Fred Agnir,,,and he is multilingual....
...although he only uses english on the cue-ball.

Does a lot for the game...voting member for the HOF

Ah, multilingual. That explains it.
English and he talks shit.

He does a lot for the game?

As in doing a hit and run on a thread (as par usual) and taking a cheap shot at a Ref who was asking a question to clarify a shot, as in that?

Apparently he thinks that he knows me or something.

A voting member of the Hall of Fame.

I see, so that gives him the right to strut like a little Rooster.

You would think, or hope that a person of his stature in the pool world might have a
bit more class than that then.

And hes your Hero, but then again, so is JFK. You're not doing too well in the Hero Dept Paul.

Anyway, no biggy as I have been insulted by much better than he. Hahaha.

If he is an Ambassador in the World of Pool, well, you know the answer to that one. He probably does have a big set tho. from people hanging on them.

OK, enuff of this, back to my movie. Tomorrow is a new day. Ice fishing, yayyy!
