Genius.... Not even close. Earl was an incredible shot maker and he hated to lose, that is what set Earl apart from most of them. Efren and Corey? Genius. Earl? Incredible shot maker with an extreme desire to win.

Since the "you" is in all caps and bold, I assume it is directed towards everyone on the forum. I would wager that there are a great many people on here that have done greater things than Earl by any measure other than becoming a great pool player, so I think you should reconsider belittling what everyone else has done with their life. Earl is an incredible player, but when it comes down to what he has really done with his life, I would place his contributions to charity above his list of pool accomplishments. For all you folks who pile on the criticism of this great pool playing legend, you can only dream of the accomplishments that this man has achieved in his life....and you do it from the anonymity of facelessness behind the keyboard of your computer: I say Earl has nothing to explain to us. What have YOU done?

He's no more a genius for putting a ball in a hole than Mike Tyson is for punching people.
Bobby Fischer could see countless possibilities.. limited 'genius'. Now just a jerk.
Van Gogh, created something out of nothing. Visionary painter. Died at 37, so everything that's known about him and his creations was done within that short time frame. His work is popular, even among those that don't collect art. He also did work as a missionary.
Tesla, harnessed A/C for use. Too much to list, really.
Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. (December 24, 1905 – April 5, 1976) was an American business magnate, investor, aviator, aerospace engineer, film maker and philanthropist.
Maybe Earl's close to Fischer.. that's about where the 'genius' ends.

Yes, thank you. You could argue any doctor has accomplished more in life than Earl.
How does playing a game stack up to saving lives?
I'm not advocating his behavior but as a whole most people over analyze and blow his behavior out of proportion. You can't make a judgment on his character when he's in the heat of battle and is under such tremendous pressure. We examine these players under a magnifying glass and look for flaws in their character/game/ attitude etc. and use it to bash them on a public forum? pathetic. Maybe we should use that same magnifying glass and find the flaws in ourselves that make us do something like that. The same people that spend all this time bashing Earl and blaming him wouldn't spend a quarter of the time actually doing something helpful for the sport.

Did you guys have any run ins with Earl at the MC?
although i could have sworn i heard him this morning talking down the hall @ 9am.
I have really begun to wonder if his expressed passion for the game is just an excuse for his behavior. If he loves the game how can he possibly believe that his behavior is a positive factor?
Ouch..... Pretty much on targetYou mean like not going on worldwide tv and reenforcing the stereotypes that the Americans are poor sportsman and bad losers and these "pool players" are nothing but a bunch of pool room bums. Okay I can do that.
define "run-ins"...?
yes, we were w/ him SUN @ the photo shoot for an hour.
Day 1 - in the Players Practice Room
Day 2 - various times/places
Day 3 - nope
EDIT: Today - everyone's just now geting up; although i could have sworn i heard him this morning talking down the hall @ 9am.
There's really no one in professional golf that comes close to Earl....
