Mosconi Updates Please

It's ludicrous to think the Europeans won because of the format.

They won because they were the better team this year. Much, much better. They kept their emotions in check, and nobody does that better than the Filipinos.

So yes, this Team Europe would be underdogs to the top 5 Filipinos (Bustamante, Corteza, Orcullo, Biado, Alex) in any format. In fact, I'll even go as far as to say there's nobody on Team Europe that would even be a favorite against one of those 5 Filipinos. And I'm not just talking about a race to 100.

Where did I say they won because of the format?

Like it or not, the format and the setting, and how well you handle them as a team/player, can make a difference. Would the Phillipines have a super strong team? Of course. But I don't think they're much better than a coin flip against the best Europe have to offer right now.

And I'd make Daz favourite against everyone on that list bar Dennis. Maybe not a big one, but favourite nonetheless.

You must of lost your mind.

You would make him a favorite, would you bet 5k per match, I'll put up 25k of my own money and stake 4 underdogs and 1 favorite. DAZ can play all of them that are at the derby. 1 day 1 match, race to 50 -10 ball. I can wire it to be posted tomorrow with someone like Jay.

ARE YOU INTERESTED? I'm sure DAZ would play as he could make more then the tourney will offer.
I will get in touch with and see how many of the pinoys are coming. Let's put some no show money up.

Yawn, same old American woofing. Don't like something? Easy, just started throwing out stupid bets instead of addressing the issue. And who said anything about racing to 50?

The attitude in this post is symptomatic of the issues in American pool today.

Lol, I figured your bark was alil stronger then your bite.

Not woofin, I'm tryin to post. Your the one woofin, makin DAZ a favorite. I called your bluff, that's what I do. I call bluffs, sometimes it pays off, sometimes I pay off. But if I say play, I'll play.

You guys want to turn pool into something it is not. It's never going to be more then a broke game, noones going to make a living playing tourneys. When they get to be about 60 and they are staring at them trophys and thinking damn I should have at least tried to win some of that cash back in the day when I could have been staked and had no risk. But their ego can't handle the losses and emotional swings. Weak hearted.

Another great win for team Europe and the worst defeat for USA in the history of the Mosconi Cup.

Earl, really. Never seen such a disgrace in any sport.
Sure you get times when a sports personality fires up and makes the odd comment, but he was way over the line this time.
There are rules in pool for unsportsmanlike behavior and he should have been served up and lost games from the ref or been disqualified several times over.
If I was an American right now I'd be deeply embarrassed that this guy is representing me.
Retire Earl, do everyone a favour.

The USA team is lacking any real new blood and has done for some time now, they hardly play overseas or get any World class match practice these days.
Hundreds of thousands of players active in USA with so many poolhalls, there are good players out there so maybe you guys need to look at programs to bring them out.

Europe are more professional, end of story. They will continue to win not just because they focus and practice but because they have a will to win.

Hoping for something different next year, like maybe a decent fight of it.

Saying I favour a player over others isn't woofing, throwing out empty offers of five figure bets on a series of matches that will never happen most certainly is.

And what's all this about turning pool into something it's not? Like it or not, tournament play is pool today. But carry on living in denial if you like.

The matches could happen, if you stake DAZ. He certainly won't stake himself.
And I highly doubt the most lucrative winner this year in pool is from tourneys. Shows how much you know. I know a few guys that have won more in 1 weekend this year then the highest earning tourney player has. There's plenty of action to be had. You just got to have a heart that pumps something other then kool aid to get it.

And my offer isn't empty. I want to post. I'll post now nearly 2 moths out. I just don't think you think he's really the favorite, or you would post. Unless your just one of those broke euro tourney players.

lol, how on earth did you manage to reach this conclusion?

I think a player is a favourite against other players, therefore I should automatically bet on them? Sorry, but I have better things to do with my money than gamble with someone on the internet on a pool game between people I've never met - a game we both know would most likely never happen anyway.

lol

I don't know what makes you think it can't happen. It's very easy to make happen. If you don't know em why do you speak like you do. And when I bet, I'll be there. I'm done, I knew you were blowin hot steam.

BUT

This offer is open to anyone that would be interested in staking DAZ at the derby. You just need to put it on the light. With a little no show on the front side.

I thought this photo of the Team Europe flag was interesting for this year's Mosconi Cup. Photo courtesy of JP for Matchroom Sport.

It states that the 2013 Mosconi Cup is the "The Legends Edition." :)

This may give a little insight into how the selections were made for this year's Legend's Edition of the Mosconi Cup, rather than tournament track record for 2013.

You are correct. It was revealed early on, many months in advance, that this years teams were to be picked without using the normal ranking systems. That's how the worlds number one ranked player was not included .

reaching into my box of crayolas... What color is done? I need to fill in Archer and team USA.....

we are trying to catch-up on all the posts (cause there's NOTHING else to do today), and this one takes the cake!
i'm going to have to tell the Euros tonight. they'll LOVE it!

Bad thing is if this loses ratings it very well could be Europe vs Asia next year.... It was one thing when Europe was getting stepped on as they were rising in the ranks..

With pro pool what it is in the USA and on a serious decline at what point does Barry call in the Pinoys... Buste, Efren, Corteza, Biado and Pagulayan would give the Euros all they want.....

you must be here, Chris?

I assume you're talking about Thorsten?

I was kinda surprised he wasn't included this year. He's been a monster as of late.

Brits singing Winter Womderland and Earl is having a go at them.!!! We need all young guys and Earl next year as coach

they had to, after our chant of:

HE'S BIG!
HE'S BAD!
HIS NAME IS JOHNNY ARCHER!!!!

and they sang it 1/2 the night last night @ Beatles Lounge. which was about the time Security started casing the perimeter....

Europe on the hill 5-3.... Only point of watching now is akin to rubber necking while driving by a bad car wreck......

you were on a roll @ Day 2!
it's funny, everytime there was a 5-10min break, we'd all go outside to smoke - both sides.
and we were all saying the same things on-site, that yáll were saying @ AZB! the only difference is - you get more scoop on-site....cause most here, know at least 1 "player" personally.
;)

Yep
