Red Circle vs. Measle Ball

Until someone can give evidence that the balls in fact weigh differently and are made differently, then there is nothing to go by. There is however, multiple videos and testing done to prove the balls are similar in weight, albeit they are off by miniscule amounts.

Both balls weigh 5.9oz, if someone so happened to have a ball that weighs 1/10th ounce over/under, I think that is within tolerance. To say a ball 1/10th of an ounce over/under is easier to maneuver is horse crap. There are millions of other factors that come into play.

Edit- And before someone says, "That's just your opinion"... Well it is, and people saying the red circle is lighter is their opinion.

These are all original Aramith that I bought with very little use, a red circle replacement, a measles ball, and a blue circle Centennial. I practice with different balls because some tournaments still use the red circle, which plays a lot different than a blue circle.

The red circle weighs in at 5.75, the blue and measles weigh in at 5.9 - 5.95

This is the same weights I get with mine. The red circle has always been a hair lighter than the measle ball here, but I may have a knock off red circle. My Aramith play balls weigh 5.9 and the red circle weighs 5.75.

We were just talking about this on FB. Someone responded in the thread with pics showing the weight differences on a scale. The measle ball is heavier and larger than the red circle.

For me, the playability of the red circle far surpasses that of the measle ball.

I was always told that the measle ball was designed for training purposes, but it seems to be the ball of choice in the professional ranks. Since I can make a single ball with it, I guess I'll have to forego my dream of playing pool for a living!

The red circle ball and measle ball weigh the same (within hundreths of an ounce). It's been discussed before. No two balls will ever weigh the exact same weight, but Aramith QC is pretty spot on.

The difference is your perception.

The largest playing adjustment I have to make with a red circle is on draw shots. I have to really throttle back because it draws so easily. The measles, blue logo aramith, red logo aramith and blue circle centennial tend to be similar weights.

Both of these are genuine and they've both seen hundreds of hours of home use.

The Red Circle came right out of the Aramith individual red circle package.
The Measles Ball came from Muellers out of TV set at SBE as they ran out of the Pro Cup individually packaged .

For whatever it's worth.

And in case anyone is wondering about the accuracy of my scale, my Schuler shafts marked ast 119g and 109g weighed in at 118g and 108g respectively. They've both had some work done on them.

My recent cue that I asked to be 19.0 oz came in at 19.0 oz.
