WPBA Qualifier updates on the news

WPBA hasn't had a real tour for 3/5 years. But they still keep bilking these regional tours to pay them. It's went down every year. Maybe 2 events a year now.
You ask why? Probably the same reason the men's went down.
 
I think you guys are missing the point. It's pool, and pool players, being promoted in a positive light on TV.
 
The women sealed their fate with what they did to Jean and the infighting.. It took some time... The new faces of women's pool are all Asian.... We have tons of euro transplants here from the last decade but the future is in the East... The West will just become a speck in the review mirror moving forward... They saw they came they conquered... OK.. Maybe Shane hasn't been conquered yet when American soil has been under his feet but internationally we are a has-been... I blame the BCA and many of the players... You can blame whoever you want...

Regional tours should just abandon the WPBA so the final nail can be put into its coffin. The organization has ruined women's pool & needs to be redone from scratch at this point.

I'm not sure how many times I need to come on here and correct this but I guess it will be forever. Jean quit because she was ready to quit. If she wanted to remain she would have paid the fine just like the other women who were being fined for various issues at that time on tour. The women were starting to learn some of the bad habits that the men had and contratry to the men's organizations that tended to do nothing, the WPBA did something about it by issuing warnings and then fines. Jean told me point blank many years later that she was ready to leave pool at that time which is the real reason behind why she didn't pay the fine.

Long after Jean left, the WPBA formed the Classic tour, which was the most successful tour in U.S. billiards history, and which lasted 15 years, uninterrupted.

I totally agree with Fran Crimi and back her 100 %. As being a co sponsor for a wpba televised event and a past sponsor of a world champion on the wpba tour, I also have been told the same exact facts that Fran Crimi has stated above. A good handful of players stated the same thing to me who were present during the time period. My personal opinion, and as I was not there in the time period, this is a on going personal thought only !!, but, in my opinion, I believe a very wonderful person in my eyes and as I understand it, a very good friend of Jean's, has endured a lot of untruth to why Jean quit. Jean quit because she wanted to quit without coming clean that she herself was playing only to appease her family, mostly her father. This is only my opinion and a lot of us have done things to appease our parents for their boasting pride even when we really were tired of something. To me, Jean could have announced that she was going to play one more year, acted like a professional and took her family with on a goodbye tour. It would have done great things for many people, but, in my opinion, it would have done the greatest thing for Jean herself who could have said goodbye with awesome results. No doubt, a true artist at the table, worth the shrine she deserved, just to bad it could have ended in one of the greatest tribute routines in the history of pool. But then, we still would not be making up our opinions.

I am sure Fran Crimi is right on in her statements.
