He stuck his finger up it's butt and said it felt like George.
I agree the shaft insert is not the typical Balabushka style. It would normally be beveled.
Something like this, right?

If you don't mind me asking, do you own this cue and how did you find it? I like the back story and history of neat cues.
That doesn't look right either - here's a pic of pretty typical Spain era joint and inserts (from Scot Sherbine).
I don't own it although its been at my house for years.
The guy who owns it bought it and a Titllist that also has that Bushka look and the Gus Box Cue all together as a lot from a World Champion pool player. He didn't know what he was doing at the time but made out pretty good on the Gus purchase.
Gotcha, thanks. Barry said his dad didn't make this blank, but that doesn't mean that either of those guys didn't make this cue. Anything is possible (except Gus),
Lets see the Titlist
Here ya go.
Now this cue HAS been to Pete. Pete agonized over this cue, but after a week, decided he couldn't authenticate it as being made by George Balabushka. Pete was sure that the parts were made by George, but figured it had been assembled by someone else.

Maybe Bob Meucci built it...
