Got to spend some time in Las Vegas with family. Went to Mickeys, great pool hall. Played on a 9' Diamond, table 5 I think. It actually needed to be tuned up, level was a little off - one of you mechanics should hit them up.

Saw one guy go on full tilt and snap his cue in half and storm out.

Cool story bro.

Shawn the owner of Mickey's does his own table work. :rolleyes:
 
I went there several times over a 3 month stretch about 5 years ago. Never could find anyone to play, but they had really nice tables.
 
Think Jim's comment is dead on. Shawn is not Ernesto or Glen. First time I went years ago, all of the tables were covered in a cloth whose speed was off to say the least. My guess is no name cloth. The Diamond tables at the other three main rooms play "correctly". Enjoyed playing in Shawn's Wednesday night event even though its played on the Brunswick's. The beer is cold and the employee(s) friendly.

If you're looking for action, Pool Sharks or the LV Cue Club would be better places to look.

I am in there twice a week, room is always attended to and clean. Shawn is a good guy, i hope business picks up for them this year.
 
Is the table time $12 per person? Or did I hear this wrong? Might this vary with large pool events in town?

If so, is that the norm for Las Vegas rooms?

I am familiar with 'golf' table time per person, otherwise not.

No, thats way off. Its $5 an hour for Gold crowns and $6 and hour for the Diamonds and they run a day time rate of $8 untill 4 oclock i think it runs till.

It was $8 per person for the full day 8-4, not sure what the rate was after.
 
no matter what the intentions are of the owner, bad equipment sends away the regular players. and those are a room's bread and butter.

especially in towns where there are alternatives to go the need to be diligent. it is so easy to level and maintain a table. it costs nothing but some time.

actually the drinkers and the people playing video poker are the ones paying the bills. table time doesnt pay much.
