Potts is a gun, with a snooker background. I suspect the Chinese Shi is also a snooker specialist.

It would be very hard for players with a US pool background to compete with the snooker players on these tables.
We used to have some 8-ball events on these 9 foot snooker tables in Australia and the top snooker players dominated, and that was using 2" balls. Using 2.25" balls makes it a very high accuracy game. Potting down the rails is almost impossible.

Yes, Hanqing Shi was trained for Snooker from very young ages.
Darren Appleton made several long rail cut shots, really stunned the Chinese viewers who thought pool players have somewhat lower accuracy.

Potts has rarely played snooker for more than fun.
I first came across him in 2000, when he won the Junior English 8 ball World Championships. He turned pro at pool under 18 IIRC.

15-5 was the score, Potts dominated.
