I hope the Mods are watching. I would like to see the W 4 S section improved. Include a formated page when someone lists a cue for instance. You would have a place to list shafts lenghth weight butt Length and weight so on. Less than half the cues listed have enough info. That require endless Pm,s trying to get specs.
Please add responses Thanks

I totally agree. I feel that having a standard format/template would make buying, selling and trading a lot smoother. Below is an "idea" of a format we could follow. This is just a suggestion. Please feel free to input your ideas.

I agree. And NO comments from the peanut gallery, if you like the cue, send a PM, if you had a cue just like that, and it hit a "ton", send him a PM, if you think the cue sux, send him a PM.

If you want to negotiate, send him a PM... if you want to buy the cue, at the posted price, than, please, by all means, post a comment that you "will take it" :)

It should be up to the seller to give as much info as possible if he/she wants to make a sale. Johnnyt

I agree...and as Peter Griffin would say "you know what grinds my gears"...when certain forum individuals play mod and make remarks in some threads (which also bumps the thread) instead of just reporting it to the mod if they have a problem with it. I've even seen them do it to great sellers on here with 50+ itraders...not that it allows them to break the rules because it doesn't....but they might get cut a tad of slack being respectable members who have done lots of positive transactions with other members.

Who has the ability to delete threads? Would bumping and everything else be an issue if
Once you sell something you have to delete your thread.
I have never sold anything but I do like to look.
Don't really think someone selling say a cue should have there thread stuck behind 20-40 cues that have been sold.
Kinda figure that's why people bump their threads.
Maybe the thread is kept alive for a reason. So instead of delete it goes into an archive. Seems simple enough to me.

I do this on both my forums. Public replying to ads is blocked in the settings....this keeps the riff-raff from adding their uninitiated 2 cents to someone's ad. All ad responses are taken to PM. A formatted page is also nice when its for specific items, for instance, on my car site.

FWIW, you do not need to suck up to the mods to make this happen, they have zero control over it. It's the administrator(s)/site owners that are responsible for making changes like this. The mod staff just dishes out bannings and moves ill-placed threads to the correct subforums.

The sale threads are just fine. If you are interested in a cue, you contact the seller.

If the seller wants to include more info in their thread, it's their choice. Some sellers might not even
have access to calipers & accurate scales. When you want more info on the cue you ask the seller.
However, changing the format of sales threads definitely would make browsing more entertaining &
interesting but I doubt whether more cues would be sold. There's no problems with the current format.

The Forum has a lot more meaningful issues to deal with than the format of sale threads for pool cues.

This is just getting out of hand..... next thing you know, you will want pics!!
I think there was already a thread about that........and some of the responses were beyond retarded.....but I won't stir that debate!

It just needs to be moderated more vigorously. Once threads started disappearing, people would get the idea to read and abide by the posted rules. People that are serial offenders and clueless overbumpers (those who could ask questions to the seller via PM but don't) perhaps need a final warning, then start handing out 30-day time outs.

Like Eddie says in TCOM, "Child care..."

Seems too frickin' obvious to me.

And require the price in the thread title.

Never gonna happen tho.....

The use of a standardized form or template has been suggested in the past. While it might make things easier in many cases, I would vote against it. Here's why.

The way someone presents their item for sale can tell the reader quite a bit about the seller as well as the item -- Is he thoughtful enough to present most of the information a buyer would want to know? Does he have good attention to detail? Does he sound at all intelligent? Does he sound trustworthy? If I seek additional information via PM, does he reply courteously and completely and, again, sound trustworthy? Or does he view my questions (the answers to which are always part of my decision-making process) as just a nuisance or as "tire kicking."

If everyone used a standardized, fill-in-the-blanks form, we'd actually lose a lot of information about the seller. Today's way may take extra time and effort to get everything needed for an informed decision, but it gives me extra comfort in what I learn about the seller.

[Response repeated from a 2010 thread]

So if we did split the For Sale Forum into 3 or 4 price range groupings, when you bumped a cue in the $1000 and under section would the threads in the $5000 and up section remain unmoved?

Thanks

Kevin

PS Oh, as far as yet another rule to make good sellers out of crummy sellers, good luck getting that implemented. Again, the forum doesn't even have a rule regarding satisfaction guarantees so all this detailing doesn't stand a chance.

Great post by AtLarge......he' absolutely right......amazing how many
people they own a custom made cue when it isn't by any stretch of
the definition but that fact only tends to piss a lot of folks off....badly.
