I once bought Mark Gregory in a Calcutta for forty dollars. ( He's a very good player ) he got to the final eight, lost a match, unscrewed and left. So you can imagine what my opinion of him is. This was in Marietta, Ga. I told one of the regulars there what he had done, and was told that they weren't at all surprised. I've heard he is a very good table mechanic. His character, though is questionable.

Sure don't remember that...I know I would get up set on losses.....but I dont ever remember walking out of any tournament still in it....you might want to rethink your post.
The only tournaments I played in Marietta was when john owned the room....I won the tournament and one other...where I lost both of my matches..
Again....why is it hard for everyone to make statements and not sign their name.....would help to know if any of the stories are even close to true???

Sure don't remember dogging much in my days.....I'm sure I have....but I took a lot of champions down in my days...a lot.

Brother...I haven't made a ball since they made cars....LMAO

Dang Mark. You outed yourself and then tried to hide in one thread.

I'm with the peanut gallery, I'd like to see you get out of the wood shop once in a while and play. Let me know ahead of time. I want to make my money early because word travels fast. ;)

Mark is a good guy , he use to come to the rack back in the day.. Also he played pretty good. And if I remember right he was the first guy to bring out Paul Mottey cues...

I'm originally from augusta and rack and grill used to be my home pool room. 9' foot gold crowns and 7' foot diamond bar boxes.

Last time I was home they opened a new location. That place used to be a great spot to play cheap games with the occasional roadie looking to play our short stops.

Coincidence that mark Gregory was mentioned bc a mechanic here where I lived just asked me last night if i knew the legendary table mechanic mark Gregory.

I said I don't know him personally but I have seen him around. Good to see him on the forum and hearing ppl crediting his work!

Hey does my man Steven Gonzalez still live in the area? Used to take him around and torture ppl.

Does old termite man Jim, Red, mike newsome, mike Weiss, hopsing still play? Whose big dawg now?

Wow...When we got together in NJ I never knew you were from Augusta (spent a bit of time there myself, over the years). Were the shortstops you were talking about Lenny & Richie, from N. Augusta?

Yea I used to actually go to school with them before they dropped out. Lenny and richie's dad bought them a small pool room outside of my neighborhood. Those two guys were a peice of work though I tell ya. Lol

Besides the point though, I forgot to mention them in my post about local shortstops bc they had been away from pool for awhile bc of the poker boom.

They are legend though around those parts. Many good stories about they're gambling matches. Most notable would be the night they played doubles vs kid delicious & Bristol bob. Then having Dallas come in and win it all! Yikes!!

Mark is the man! We had our share of good times and laughs back in the day in Athens and Atlanta. Hope you are doing well.

Tommy......aka "Greek God to every woman", lol
