I was very interested in getting the dcc pay per view this weekend, till I saw the price! I understand that this type of coverage cost money to put on but lets get realistic here and stop and think about who is buying this. not every purchaser is well off or even middle class. I work construction for 9 months out of the year and enjoy playing pool and watching pool on these streams every chance I get. I'm surely not gonna contemplate paying that kind of money though. I always believed in lowering a price on something or offering it at a reasonable price to begin with to get people in the door. I'm curious to know what everyone else has to say on the subject.

If you buy every day, it can get expensive but the daily and night sessions are reasonable. The night session is $5.95, that's less than a combo meal.

I think it is too expensive forthe couple hours use I'd get out of it...but the people who put it on aren't running a charity either.

i dont expect anything for free or "charity" , I also understand that its expensive to setup and run the stream,no arguements here. My point is that if you run this for under $50 for the tourny and not almost $80 you would probably get twice as many or more people to purchase it. Therefore more revenue, simple math.

I really wish there was a pool channel like there is for golf or tennis. I would pay as much as $10 a month for the channel. I understand these guys have to make money, so I'm not begrudging them that- but it would be nice to have a channel on cable tv.

With what the WWE did with their network online for $9.99 a month, I have a feeling other things will follow. maybe something like that can be for pool.

again, I know these guys need to make money, but if you both several streams a month it can really add up

Man you can't even see a movie for less than 10 dollars. And that's for 2 hours of entertainment. How much do you pay for table time per hour? The prices are dirt cheap for what they offer. You can even begin to get lessons to learn patterns, form, etc for anywhere close to that cheap.

I guess it differs from person to person but for what the stream offers and the quality of them. 10 bucks a day, (cheaper if you bought the whole early bird package) is cheap....

I paid the 5.95 earlier and watched Saez/shaw SvB/Orcullo and Morro before I left to go shoot some..... Couldn't beat that....

I bought the whole 9 days. The way I see it, I'd pay that much in gas to drive half way there from DC, so it's a bargain.

Plus, I have a perfect seat. I can watch it in the comfort of my home with easy access to my fridge, bathroom, etc.

Accu Stats is charging $10 a day. IMO thats pretty fair but I understand the sticker shock when looking at the total price for all the days together. It is what it is though. For some people its too much for some its what they spend on a lunch. Like everything else the market will decide. If enough people do not buy because the perceived value is not there they will either lower their price or stop doing it.

With everyone and their brother trying to do PPV now customers will have to start making choices where they spend their time and money.

For every price there is an amount of people that will be buyers (the market). When you lower the price the market size (number of buyers) increases. When prices are higher the market shrinks. Laterally, when you lower prices profits per unit shrink and profits per unit will rise when you raise prices.

After stating the obvious, it amazes me that business owners do not take more time to determine what their ideal price/market size relationship that is best for their business. They simply pick a price and let the number of buyers fall where they may like preverbal chips.

Pool streaming ONTH has a unique challenge in that the market is just too small to begin with and the margins are so small that reaching a meaningful volume when each new subscriber is 98% profit or better is so tough that market research is near impossible. TBS, a decision for me to stream a match has never been about the cost.

Yes, it's all about what people are will to pay or what they view as a good deal.

Let's say at the current prices, we have this distribution of the viewers:

Scenario 1:
10% full package
20% 3 days
60% 2 days
10% 1 day

average price collected from each viewer is roughly $26

Let's say accu-stats does a one-time full package price at $30

now the distribution is at:

Scenario 2:
80% full package
10% 2 days
10% 1 day

average price collected from each viewer is roughly $27

Scenario 1:
Most people will not buy the full package at the current package price since they will most likely be working during the day or night session.

Scenario 2:
A large percentage are already paying $20, thus they would the be willing to pay an additional $10 for a full package.

It like going to the grocery store where they offer one item at full price, $3, or six items at $1 for a total of $6.

I'm assuming most people would go for the 6 items, just my guess.

I think it's a very fair price. For 10 bucks you get right at 8 hours of the very best players playing on a 10' diamond. The commentators are good. Danny D was in prime form tonight for the earl match. I've never felt cheated when I bought a stream for accu stats or tar, and I don't think I've missed but maybe two the past couple years. It is what it is, you either buy it or you don't. But really, how much can the price actually go down from 10 dollars a day? Is a dollar or two gonna change your mind?

They might be lucky to break even or turn a small profit after all expenses are covered. There's a lot involved to stream an event like this. A lot of people to pay when it's all said and done.

I understand that you might not be able to afford every single day. But you could still watch the finals of every event for $5.95 each. That's the Bigfoot, Banks, One Pocket, and Nine Ball. Just $23.80 to watch 4 great matches, and possibly more since you could probably catch the semi-finals as well.

...snip...

For me, it's deeper than that - it's about what options people have. If there's a rave at my local disco, I ain't buying no PPV that night. ;)

I'm kinda serious on that. For example - I firmly believe TAR 38 had unfortunate timing. Amongst other things, it overlapped NFL playoffs, Music City Open streaming and prior week had a hugely popular PPV stream (albeit flawed) of Efren vs Earl.

I just hope TAR 39 doesn't overlap Sochi's curling competition. ;) (I don't think the concurrent, 10 day run of bonus ball PPV will put much of a dent in EFREN vs SHANE!)

Did I say Efren vs Shane?!! :)

That's a bit like comparing apples and watermelons, don't you think?

It cost upward of $100 million to produce a major flick, and you're paying for that plus a service charge to the theatre for showing it on a huge screen with surround sound and a comfy seat in a big heated/air-conditioned room. That oughta be seen as a better value.

I love watching good pool. Rail side if at all possible, but streamed live is a good second best. I've become a bit of a junkie over the last few years, but it has to stop for me if the industry doesn't figure out a way to make it more accessible and a lot cheaper.

I think a dedicated cuesports cable channel would be the ultimate answer. How everybody involved with that would be able to manufacture a paycheck for themselves within that model I don't have a clue, but if they could, I'd buy into it to the tune of about $20/month.
